I don't have to hand-deliver a letter to give notice to my employer, do I?

I don't particularly want to have to go in when I'm not working.

(It's been a while since I had a proper job so not entirely sure what the etiquette is but I've been offered something that suits better hours-wise at the moment)

Depends what they expect. My old employer had an email template for just that.

SuperstarDJ · 14/09/2018 16:51

Post it or send it via email. It doesn’t have to be hand delivered.

You lot were fast, thanks! I'll get it in the post tomorrow morning, first thing.

One more...

What do I write?

You don't have to give a reason. Just say that you are giving required notice from such and such a date, as per contract.
Basically, "so long and thanks for all the fish".

Brill, thank you!

I'm going to email it now...save the stamp!

Something like

Dear boss

Please accept this letter as notice of resignation starting date.

As per the terms of my employment contract, I will continue to work for the company for the next time period, completing my employment on last date of notice.

My time at company has been enjoyable and rewarding and I have enjoyed the challenges posed to me.

Yours,

Name

QuestionableMouse your last sentence is much better than the one I've just scribbled down before typing it! I will use that instead, thank-you.

(I feel slightly bad about it btw...that's normal, right?)

It's totally normal to feel a bit bad but it'll pass. 😀
