Reusable freezer bags/clingfilm alternatives (beeswax wrap?)

Is anyone successfully using the silicone freezer bags or the beeswax wrap? We seem to be going through plastic film/bags at a ridiculous rate. We have a drawerful of Tupperware but it’s isnt always practical.

I bought a couple of the beeswax wraps. Im not sure on them if i am honest. You can't wash them very well (although they are antibacterial), you can't use them on meat (as you can't wash them well) and i don't think they seal very well.
I also bought some of the silicon things to go on the top of jars, had them since august not found a use for them once. They are always the wrong size.

There used to be a biodegradable cling film, I wonder if that would be a better buy.

Glass jars make good freezer 'bags', I've found. Old margarine tubs etc.

That was my fear, Limbo!

Pickle, we have quite a small freezer but I like to keep it filled, and Tupperware/jars are a bit of a nightmare to stack - a lot of space seems to get wasted. I like the look of the flexible silicone freezer bags for this reason.

We use old takeaway plastic cartons in the fridge or freezer, these are reused many times. I bought some rubber covers from Ikea - they're quite useful. Bowls of things n the fridge get covered with a plate. Sandwich boxes for packed lunches.

We do use some plastic bags in the freezer to portion up large meat packs, but it's not a huge amount, 1 or 2 a week on average.

We do buy cling film and foil, but a roll lasts months, if not over a year and to be honest I can't get particularly excited about that level of usage. All our non recyclable rubbish is incinerated so it's not going to landfill or off into the sea.

What do you think you use most of your cling film and bags for and what is the ridiculous rate - how long does a roll of cling film last?

Greaseproof paper is a good alternative for wrapping sandwiches. We reuse it a couple of times, too.

I bought some beeswax wraps recently and really like them. The ones I got seal fine - the only thing is, they do smell a bit of honey!

I got a bag of washable elastisticated reusable plastic bag type lids from Lakeland. Obviously they're only good for covering things rather than wrapping them but I'm really pleased with them so far

I'm a beekeeper and we've been making these for a while now and we can't make them fast enough?
I've been using my prototypes for 2 years now and find them so easy to use and wash.
We only use beeswax and cloth, no additional oils. Wash flat and don't scrunch the fabric when washing and air dry - so easy. Sometimes they only need a quick rinse other times I've used the kitchen brush.
If the beeswax cracks then it can be re-melted into the cloth and it's as good as new!

I took a chopped apple on a train journey in the summer, threw it into a wrap, scrunched it up and only ate it the following day - it was slightly brown and as fresh as anything, the cloth acts like a serviette and folds into 'nothing' when empty.
Great for avocados, cheese, sandwiches, fruit, covering bowls - so much - give them a go!
