First shoes for very small toddler feet

I'm sure others have been in this situation, so I'm hoping for some advice.

DD is 16m but small for her age. Her feet are currently a size 2. Since 13m she has worn a pair of start-rite prewalkers for walking outside (on pavements, in the woods, playground etc.). At home she goes barefoot.

She is just outgrowing these shoes so I took her to be remeasured and she is approaching size 2.5, but the shop assistant wouldn't sell us anything because 'now that she is walking properly, she should be in a first walker, not a prewalker, but the smallest available size for first walkers is a 3 (and in many shops a 4).

What to do? I'm tempted to just buy the same pair of prewalkers DD currently has online in a 2.5...

Just buy them online. Shop assistant was being ridiculous.

My DD was a size 2 at 22 months when she started walking. We ended up getting her shoes from an independent shoe shop. She had a pair of Kickers boots which lasted her ages and were great for winter.

She's just started school and you wouldn't believe the trouble we had trying to find her school shoes in her size (6)!

I went to an independent and bought continental shoes.

My dd was a 2 when she first started walking. Clarks sell size 2 albeit not a huge range (I think I had a choice of 2 shoes). Getting boots in that size was an absolute pita though, I finally managed to find a pair in a charity shop after looking eveeywhere!!

I also had an arsey sales assistant in Clarks insisting dd was an 'f' fitting. I insisted she was a 'g' (the fs I had bought in advance in the sale were far too narrow). She did sell them to me but kept going on about how I couldn't return them if worn outside. (I saw another sales assistant a few months later who said according to their tape measures dd is an f but that she'd recommend buying a g as her foot was high)

Maybe try ‘bobux’ shoes online, they may do them if you’re struggling for options.

My dd at 14 months has just been fitted for her first shoes. She was between a 2.5 and a 3 with an f width and we got these
from John Lewis. They were one of the only pairs of walkers in her size and looking at start rite website they go down to a 2. I was told in John Lewis that start rite do tend to be bigger then Clarks, which she also tried on.

I’d just buy the pre walkers online. We have a similar issue, DD has been walking since 10 months, is now 15 months but has only just got into a 3. Strangely she’s very tall, the odd combination of height and tiny feet she must get from me. I also reccomend Russel and Bromley if you’d rather buy in person; they have start rite.

Also not sure if it’s what you’re after but you can get Converse (the proper ones not the soft baby booties) starting at a size 2. I bought them on amazon

I bought my dd 's first proper shoes in size 2.5 in Clarks
