Has any parents volunteered at the beavers/cubs/scouts or explorers?

As I wanna volunteer!!.... As I'm stuck in a rut at home...bored! And I want to do things before I get old!! I've looked on their list and it made me depressed as thinking I want to do something different.

I'm 43 and none of my kids (6, 10 & 13) are in the scouts, they are in the sport side of life. I wanna have fun before I can't!!

I’m a beavers and cubs leader I’d be delighted if someone wanted to volunteer on a regular basis tbh. And extra pair of hands is always welcome whether they have children in the group or not.

Well, if you don’t want to volunteer at the scouts, don’t!

Any Scouting or Guiding organisation will bite your hand off if you want to volunteer. They can never get enough people.

Find your nearest group and volunteer! Dh is a scouter, and obviously enjoys it. I'm Brownies, and we often share ideas /resources. My unit certainly do not spend their time coloring or doing craft.

Have a think about your availability and which section you'd like to volunteer with. The youngest ones need more planning, but have bucket loads of enthusiasm. The older ones should be planning more themselves, and the leaders facilitating. Cubs & scouts come somewhere in between.
Do it. Doubt you'll regret it.

I'm a Guide leader and my DS is in Beavers and they'd bite your hand off.

I was a Guider before we had the DCs (I was in Guiding myself as a child and had a long break).

I know in a lot of places the waiting list is longest for Beavers so if you'd like to do that you will probably be very welcome.

Approach your nearest Scout group and volunteer! Contact the pack leader directly, or contact the GSL (Group Scout Leader) in your area, or see if they have a Development Officer in place who may be in charge of leader recruitment. You do NOT need to have children in the pack. You will be DBS checked. To become a warranted leader you will be expected to complete various modules of training within a set period of time (most of which can be done online) and will be assessed by a member of the Scout Group.
