Center Parcs

I'm making a list off what we need to pack for our Center Parcs break. Any top tips of things to bring that I would otherwise probably forget, things like washing up liquid etc....

Placemarking as I am packing for center parcs myself today!

Never been to CP but if we go away self catering for a weekend a Hello Fresh or Gousto box is really handy for cooking because it has all the ingredients you need all measured out.

We buy the instant logs from b and m for about £1 each instead of buying the identical ones from the Park Market, they are about £4/5 each!! It does say on the fire place to only use their logs, but there isn’t a log police force so it’s fine.

We do a big shop before we arrive. I have a special cool bag and some ice packs to keep cold items in until we can get into our lodge.

You do get towels, in certain lodges you also get maid service so they will replace your towels during your stay. We took them to the swimming. If you get maid service they will also replace toilet rolls, if not then remember to bring more with you!

We are also a blanket family so bring your blankets and dvds to watch in the evenings if that’s your thing.

They provide a little bowl of chalk for the blackboard but it’s the thin chalk, my kids prefer the bigger pieces so we bought a tub that we just keep for that. Think it was only £1.

Places like Poundland sells ten packs of dishwashing tablets. They provide you with a few but not enough.

Bring some bird seed to scatter. My kids loved watching the different animals it attracted.

If you are going in dry weather and your kids want to play in the little beach bit then buy your beach toys before you go too. Mind you I don’t know if they will be in any shops now :S

The swimming at whinfell opened at 10 (not sure about everywhere else) and the entire park was there! I personally would never go at that time after going just once then lol. We go every day at 4/5ish and stay for hours and there is hardly anyone else there so less crowded and no queues for slides etc. We bring a light packed lunch in with us and eat it about 6/7 and then back into the pool. There is a cafe where you can buy food and meals from but we prefer to bring our own. My kids can spend hours and hours in there!

Backpacks are a great idea - between swimming gear, shopping at the market and generally bringing snacks etc around the place, as there are decent walks/cycles involved most of the time.

I also forgot that I normally bring a deck of cards and some paper and pencils - to play games but paper and pencils/crayons are good for doing rubbings either on the nature trail formally or just bark etc on trees.

BiddyPop · 13/09/2018 10:15

And rain gear - often its really nice to be out walking or cycling in the rain, if you have a proper raincoat it can be quite fun!

TellMeItsNotTrue · 13/09/2018 11:19

Rucksacks are really handy, especially if you are cycling but even if just walking - shopping, swimming stuff etc

Buy cheap bird seed and wildlife peanuts, the wildlife love it all and it is about 10x the price for the same stuff once there (the rest in the shop isn't as bad but they know people don't think to bring this and will want it) don't feed the ducks or swans bread, they love the peanuts too (ducks also eat the bird food) and at a push you are better giving the ducks cornflakes than bread

Wine and cans of g&t

Whistle73 · 13/09/2018 12:22

Really want to go now reading this! Are the prices the same at each one?

Heismyopendoor · 13/09/2018 20:23

For the holiday whistle? If so, no they are different and different dates are also different prices.

Whistle73 · 14/09/2018 15:28

Yes I know dates vary massively - which are the 'cheaper' parks? And is that because they are older or not as good?

Kezzie200 · 14/09/2018 16:42

Me too!

I think the further down you go the more expensive they are. Check the website and compare prices for the different places. We have only ever been to whinfell and I think it’s great.
