Please help me understand the online food shop

I've done a couple of online shops (Tesco) before when I've not been able to get to the store, but still very much a novice.

I want to get more organised so want to menu plan for a few weeks in one go which I will then just rotate. Are there any online shops that let you save multiple shopping lists so you can order it all again + add other stuff you've run out of that week?
So 4 different shopping lists I can just click on one and it puts all the ingredients I need that week in my shopping basket?

Does this exist? Are there other ways to do it? Please help, I'm not very good at this kind of stuff, and when I tried to Google it I only got websites for apps or money saving tips?!

Feel free to reccomend me your favourite online food shop company and it's best feature(s).
Thanks.

On Tescos yoi can pull up past orders and add the complete order to your basket, will that help?

Sainsbury's allows you to access all of your previous orders, and add the same list to your trolley with one click; you can then take things out or add things as necessary. You have to do the order once, but once it is there you can do it again and again.
I don't know that I would recommend Sainsbury's particularly as I have never used another online supermarket but I don't have too many complaints. They have let me down maybe two or three times, in terms of not turning up, but that is over more than ten years. There is a growing tendency for food to be quite near its sell-by date which is annoying, and for some reason you couldn't get a butternut squash last week, but generally they are fine for me.

Thanks. I was hoping to be able to pre save lists as I've got a bit of time now but the next few months are going to be quite busy for me.
Looks like good old-fashioned paper & pencil lists may be best?!

Confused But if you just want to order the same stuff in week 5 as you did in week 1, why don’t you just repeat the week 1 order as PPs suggest?

Ocado does have the exact functionality with lists, tho.

Catfacecats · 12/09/2018 19:25

But if you only use the same lists, you could miss out on special offers etc? I always go into my last order and add my staples first.
Then I have my list of 7 meals and go meal by meal and add what I need. Then I check £1 deals for snacky stuff :) I use the Tesco App on iPhone and it all takes 10 mins or so.

There's a website called mysupermarket.co.uk that allows you to make shopping lists. You can then send everything in your list there to the supermarket of your choice. It has the added advantage of showing you where savings can be made.

What you're talking about doing is what I would love to do, I was thinking one big shop a month, one smaller half way through then top ups of fresh stuff from the local supermarket, but I just haven't got myself organised enough to do it. Love the idea though.

Morrison’s allows you to have a list. Not sure if they do multiple lists. I have one huge one and remove stuff from it.

ThePricklySheep · 12/09/2018 19:43

It’ll automatically save your favourites as a list, which it takes three minutes to zip down and select from. I don’t think complete lists would be any quicker, because you’d still have a degree of change unless you are totally predictable in your requirements?

QuaterMiss · 12/09/2018 19:44

These are the shopping list options on Ocado. I generally scroll through my Favourites but I daresay lots of people might just click on Instant Shop - which would include all the things you regularly buy. I haven’t used Your Meals & Lists - perhaps that might be closest to what you want.

I’ve used Ocado for years and wouldn’t consider any other online supermarket. Really quick and trouble free ordering. And cheery, helpful delivery people.

All very helpful, thanks. I'll check out Ocado.

@Catfacecats 10 minutes?! It takes me at least an hour to do mine Sad but you see why I want to get more efficient!

I use ASDA - Like a PP I always get the same basics - cheese, butter, meat, veg - then find deals on snack food/household products.

kshaw · 12/09/2018 21:25

Asda let you save multiple lists

CMOTDibbler · 12/09/2018 21:56

You can do multiple lists on Ocado

MummytoCSJH · 12/09/2018 22:21

I love Ocado for this reason! The app is really good and they have lots of good offers all the time.
