I do. PVC/ vinyl type ones. Ds is very messy and I would prefer to save my table.

EmilyR1984 · 12/09/2018 12:30

Me too. Goes on for dinner, off after and into the wash usually! My children are quite messy and I would rather they mess something I can wash then something I'll have to scrub and hope it doesn't stain the wood. It's only a cheap cloth I use so I don't care what happens to it and no one sees it expect for us a meal times.

I am looking for a nice lace one at the moment, so I really want one just can't find a proper one that I want anywhereHmm

I do. I use cotton tablecloths, but as we have a baby on the way, I'd like some that are coated. They are all very subtle with regards to patterns and colours.
I've seen some really pretty coated tablecloths that look like normal cotton, but they are quite expensive, so maybe I'll be able to find them on sale at some point.

I have a few for every day use (but I don't always use them as they need ironing and I'm lazy), and then a very pretty white Christmas tablecloth. All are damask, so the pattern is woven, not printed.

To me, it has nothing to do with wanting to save the table - I just think it looks nicer and cosier with a tablecloth rather than just the tabletop. Maybe I just need a nicer dining table...

My mum always use tablecloths for dinner parties.

I do! Wipeable ones on both kitchen and dining table, and cotton on dining table for Sundays/occasions.

I'm 40 going on 85 (according to my husband), so maybe it's an age thing 😅

I've got a couple of antique embroidered linen ones.

My dining table needs fixing but I'll dig them out when it is. I have a slight fantasy that when I feel better in myself I might meet someone nice and lay the table properly and have lovely meals with them Blush

LongSummerDays · 12/09/2018 12:58

I've got damask tablecloths. I had a beautiful lace one which fit my dining table when it was extended but I found it a pita to launder so I sent it to the chazzer.

I don't think my table has ever seen the light of day! Grin

I buy the vinyl by the metre for about a fiver from a local shop, and use it for all sorts.

H and M do some nice ones. Some vibrant, some plain classic, a nice selection. Ikea used to sell some huge ones in stripey colours. Bought 4 from there around 6 years ago, lovely heavy-duty cotton, which never needs ironing. Think they still sell a couple of big ones. Love me a tablecloth. Really dresses up our battered old pine table (hides 20 years of scratches n scribbles) Can always add a table runner n mats on the top to make it even more spesh. Think it can change the mood of a room almost.
