For the love of God, will someone please recommend me a decent pillow?

It's something of a lifelong quest of mine. I've done what feels like every option regarding brand, filling, price, all with varying degrees of unsuccessfulness.
I'm a pillow hugger so my pillows are never flat on the bed, but sort of scrunched up IYSWIM? I thought I'd finally cracked it with a mid priced Ikea one, but that has now also succumbed to my wicked ways and is a lumpy excuse for a pillow.
By contrast, DH is still using a couple of bog standard ones from Sainsbury's that he's had for at least 18 months and that, with a quick shake, come up as good as new.
As far as price goes I'm wary of spending too much, in case I murder that one as well. OTOH I acknowledge that I may have to bite the bullet here in order to achieve my hearts desire Grin

I've just resigned myself to having to buy a two pack of firm pillows every year. I'm happy with the Asda ones. I did try a foam pillow but didnt get on with it.

What type of pillow do you want a firm one, a squidgy one?
I have a wool pillow on the bottom firm does not conform in anyway and then a down one on the top nice and squishy round my head.
I spend more money use pillow protectors and then change about every 5-8 years.
I also prefer natural fibres.
Sleep and Soak is my go to place for pillows and duvets.

John Lewis are really good, that's the one I've got.

Just had a wriggle to look at the label and it's standard Siberian goose feather and down. Works well in the washing machine.

Buckwheat pillows are brilliant.

It's rather expensive but I've just got a Simba hybrid pillow. I have never spent anywhere near that much on a pillow before but I decided to splurge rather than keep spending £20 on inferior ones. I've only used it for one night so it's too soon to tell really, but I did sleep through for the first time in ages... it has a special temperature-controlled layer so I didn't spend the night flipping it over to get the cold side. You can adjust the thickness as it has removable foam filling.

We've just bought eve pillows (much like the simba ones).
They make all hotel ones seem shit though.

I use a semi-firm goose down pillow from JL, and a squishier Ikea one, and combine them.

I'm not convinced by synthetic fibres, particularly the new 'foam' based ones. I'm loath to be breathing in synthetic nano/microparticles all night.

I really love my Tempur pillow. Never had a better one. I also still have my Theraline pillow from pregnancy which I scrunch up between my arms and legs.

I take up a lot of space :)

A feather pillow, that cost about £20 from John Lewis, has changed my life. Or at least my sleep, anyway.

NonaGrey · 12/09/2018 11:40

I have a tempur-pedic pillow. It was very expensive (about £80 five years ago) but worth every penny.

We got Casper pillows after buying their mattress, we got super king pillows as standard size looked lost on a large bed. They weren’t cheap Shock but are lovely and squishy, plump up well and are really comfy.
