Care pack for friend feeling a bit rubbish

A lovely friend of mine is going through an utterly rotten time; not only she is undergoing radiotherapy because of breast cancer, but she is also dealing with terrible illnesses amongst her close family and friends circle.

I would like to put together a self-care hamper for her but I feel a little stuck for ideas. She appreciates natural products, so I was thinking salt deodorant, organic bubble bath, organic body lotion, etc. I would be really grateful for some of your ideas for specific products, as in what brands are good, and if anyone can think of a good read, or any other ideas really. Thanks so much.

thats a lovely idea. Now its getting a bit chilly at nights what about some cosy socks or a blanket she can snuggle into, maybe a hot water bottle with a nice cover

You are a lovely friend, wish I knew you. All the suggestions above are excellent.

How about

A nice hair/face mask
Warm slippers
Good quality hot chocolate
Gripping but easy read book
Bubble bath/lavender Epsom salts
Cosy pyjamas

I love creating self-care hampers! I put the following bits in mine:

A lovely card with people writing nice messages in it that she can get out and read when she is feeling low

Fluffy socks

Aromatherapy roller balls (roll them on your pulse points)

Lush bath bomb or lovely bath oil from the Body Shop or equivalent

Lip salve

Chocolate

Herbal teas selection...nice calming ones

Loveheart sweets

A voucher for a manicure, pedicure, massage treatment

Any of those positive thought / angel / mindfulness cards

A small candle with a nice fragrance

An uplifting quote written on a coloured piece of paper

A CD (if she has a CD player)

A sachet or tub of luxury hot chocolate

I could go on....

Interested to hear about any books people suggest. I always find Maeve Binchy books very warm and comforting but am sure there are other authors who have the same effect...

We did this for my Dad when he was in hospital towards the end. We got

comfy pj's that were warm because he felt the cold more easily,
warm socks,

a fleecy dressing gown,

some quality chocolate,

a flask to have hit drinks fetched from home each day because he hated having to wait for a hot drink until the hospital drinks lady came round,

And a little bottle of rum (his favourite tipple).

He was so appreciative of these things and they made his last two hospital stays bearable.

Not Another Bunch of Flowers has some good ideas for get well gifts

Personally, I'd like a Puzzler and an issue of Private Eye. Always good for filling the 'waiting around' time that comes with illness.

I think that sounds great, maybe add some good chocolate (I like Montezumas, Booja Booja, Hotel Chocolat), a book (I loved Oleander Olliphant but anything upbeat or maybe some lovely poetry or even a pretty notebook or diary with a lovely pen), dvd, maybe a nice candle (scented but not containing paraffin, St Eval are nice), a tiny bottle of champagne maybe, or fluffy blanket or fluffy socks. All wrapped up in pretty paper in a nice gift bag. I'd be absolutely delighted if someone gave me something like that, wish you were my friend!
