How should (junior) school deal with this? Headbutt/injury

DS was headbutted at school by a boy in his year group (year 5) at lunchtime today. 4 hours later, he's still in pain, has a lump and says he's feeling dizzy and strange. DS told the first aiders at school but said they didn't do anything about it - the boy stayed out for the rest of playtime. Something may have been done about it later, possibly, but at that point it was really minimised to DS.

I want to let his teacher know and don't want to come across as an overprotective parent, but also don't want to let it go as he had to put up with a lot of racist bullying last year (including from the boy who headbutted him today).

How would your child's school deal with this? Would the other child have any consequences? Would both sets of parents be informed?
Would anything else happen?

Headbutting is violence and violence should not be tolerated by anyone. Appalling behaviour! You would be quite within your rights to speak to the head about it, also say that no-one paid much attention to your son after the incident and it left him in pain and dizzy.

If he's still feeing dizzy and strange I'd take him to get checked out, eith the local doc or the hospital.
Definitly let the teacher know in the morning, headbutting is flamin dangerous. The first aider needs a kick up the bum.

Doctor now, talk to school in the morning. If they don’t take you seriously, mention the word safeguarding.

Ok, after the last update he told me his eyes were all blurry so we've been to the doctors and back. He's ok, but the bump is pretty big and very sore. His vision was checked and is blurry but ok, and no vomiting so the doctor's pretty sure he'll be fine. Is it mean of me to hope the other kid has a pretty bad headache too?
