Just burned my face with hair removal cream

What do I do??
I needed to get rid of my peach fuzz so thought I'd try a hair remover.... left it on for recommended time but it felt like sandpaper as I was wiping it off. Now I can see loads of burns on both cheeks!!!

Its stinging and red but I'm sure that will calm down. I need to go out in 15mins...is it too soon to slap loads of makeup on it??

and no, I didn't patch test, stupid me!

Awch apply a hydrocortisone cream to the burn that should stop the nipping and help it heal

Happycow · 11/09/2018 15:37

Thanks @pinyata off to raid my medicine box!!

sudocreme helps. I once burned my leg with veet.

Pringlemunchers · 11/09/2018 15:40

Nothing to add. Other than my bloody arm pits are the same. Ouch ConfusedFlowers

Happycow · 11/09/2018 15:40

I thought cream was for waxing cowards... not so!!! I look like I decided I didn't have enough moles and just burned some extras in for a laugh!

Be careful with using Sudocrem, some of us are allergic to it and it could make it worse for you.

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 11/09/2018 15:42

Once left some on now exh nether regions!!
Blistered pretty bad.

On reflection, really glad it happened as he was a twat!!

AwdBovril · 11/09/2018 15:42

YY to sudocrem. Or maybe try bepanthen. You got off light - I used to get massive raw patches. I eventually quit using it, & now pluck instead.

Happycow · 11/09/2018 15:44

No hydrocortisone. Done a thin layer of sudocrem to fill in the new holes my face and level things off (polyfilla?). Stings like a bastards, but going in with some powder foundation to hopefully get back to a normal colour

Thank you all. I've used Sudocrem before so reckon I'm not allergic (reminds of the first time I used deep heat... put a thick layer all over DPs back. He was weeping and cursing in a cold shower for a good 30mins)

I did this. I'll name and shame - it was a Nair 'facial hair removal' kit marketed as being suitable for sensitive areas. Green and pink pack with a brush-style applicator. I was going to leave it for the recommended minimum of 3 minutes and felt it start to sting after 1 and a half, so I washed it off. Good job too. I had a couple of little pinprick spots that scabbed over and some dry skin for a week; it could have been worse. I'm never touching that again.

Out of curiosity I tested a Veet one on a sensitive patch and had no issues.

GallicosCats · 11/09/2018 15:55

PS check the ingredients list - sodium hydroxide anywhere at all other than the very end of the list in literally microscopic amounts is a massive red flag! Shock

Happycow · 11/09/2018 16:07

Shock I think i used the same one

Might try the very one when my face has recovered. I've also bought one of those razor things for eyebrows off Amazon to try too.

Glad you didn't get too damaged @galicoscats !

Oh god I did this. The next day I had blisters all around my mouth like a muzzle and even up around my eyebrows. It was a very bad reaction and I had left it on longer than recommended. I now go to a professional to be waxed and would advise you to do the same as those creams can be a nightmare 🙄

itwillbealrightpromise · 11/09/2018 17:22

Threading is the way forward. Can hurt like a bitch but lasts for ages, and not too expensive to get done.

Happycow · 11/09/2018 17:52

I've had my eyebrows threaded and it hurt more than waxing... But maybe I need to try again!
The stinging has stopped now, I just look a bit of a mess...
