Sad (puppy woes)

We got her at the beginning of the summer at a time when my husband worked mainly from home. Our circumstances are now changed, so looks like we have to sell her. I think we've considered all possibilities of holding onto her. But in case there is an angle that I have overlooked, I am appealing to mum's net... We've asked family and friends to look after her during the week and holidays (I work in a college, term-time only so am free in holidays), but no-one is able to take on the long term commitment. We tried 'borrow-my-doggy' - but that would be a bit patchy, unreliable, not fair on her and stressful for us. So we've found a buyer and met up with them... Assuming they are interested, she will spend a final weekend with us, then on Sunday it will be goodbye! Any last minute ideas before we take the plunge?? Or since a sale is looking likely, I would like to know if anyone has been through this before. My 12 year old will be especially upset - does anyone have any inspirational words that will help us through this difficult time?

2 posts about the same thing?!

shapeshifter88 · 10/09/2018 12:38

Did you think you were going to get more sympathy here?

bounty5 · 10/09/2018 12:44

I only just saw those replies! No, not looking for sympathy, just some ideas. I will read the replies now...

Yes, same post. First I called it 'sad' then I realised it wasn't clear what I was talking about so I posted again calling it 'puppy woes'. And before that I posted in the pets section - I only just noticed the response (other times I've posted on mum's net I didn't get much response, so I wasn't expecting that!) If I could delete the other posts I would - it's not cos I'm trying to get loads of sympathy. I will read the responses now...

You have been given good ideas on this and the other post. It is very sad. Mostly as you seem to be ignoring what every single person is telling you. If you can't deal with your dog anymore then get a proper sanctuary to help you.
At least then with credibility you can tell your child that you did your best by this dog when you couldn't look after it properly.

Fireworks91 · 10/09/2018 14:27

Back to breeder or doggy daycare/dog walker. Like most other people who work and have dogs.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/09/2018 14:35

Oh my god. A third thread.

Same sentiment

Poor pooch.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 10/09/2018 16:42

Please don’t ever get a dog again (I know you won’t listen from the fact you’ve started 3 threads about this because you’re not getting the response you want).

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 10/09/2018 16:48

Wonder what happens when your dc becomes a troublesome teen?!

Kidssendingmenuts · 10/09/2018 16:51

You have only two options here....

Either pay for a dog walker to walk your pooch or place in daycare

Or

Hand back to breeder.

I've been at work all day and so many assumptions have been made!
Livia998 - i posted twice cos I wasn't sure which section - I didn't know they appeared on a communal feed (I rarely use mum's net or any social media). The second message I posted twice cos the topic wasn't clear
April shower - my dog has not become troublesome! We don't want her to leave!! If I didn't care, why would I post that message when it would be so easy to sell her to any old person!? I'm going to post more information on the other feed, alrhough that will probably be twisted in all sorts of ways

You need to read the advice you've been given on the other thread.

ClosdesMouches · 10/09/2018 17:32

Posted the same thread three times?
Hmm

ClosdesMouches · 10/09/2018 17:34

Not just a dog, ecumenical. Any pet. OP please don't get any other pets ever. They aren't something to be discarded by irresponsible owners.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 10/09/2018 18:28

Having read her other thread and her ‘vaild’ reason of doggy day care is too expensive Hmm (the forward planning of a toddler in action there. I take it no thought was put into what would happen I feel either of you lost your jobs/had to move/became seriously ill) I’m inclined to agree with you @ClosdesMouches

OP I know you think you’re getting a pasting for nothing and we’re being unfair but we are not. You gave very little consideration to the purchase of your dog, yes your DP job circumstances changed - but you should have taken things like that into consideration like I’d mentioned above! It’s not entirely a rare situation to have your working situation change. Please take your dog to an animal shelter where they WILL make sure she goes to someone who can provide a stable home, they deal with this all the time. And again please don’t ever get another pet.

BigChocFrenzy · 11/09/2018 00:50

Thread 3 and the same advice from most of us - which you don't listen to:

Do NOT sell a puppy to some bloody random stranger. Give the pup to a shelter
