I'm at a loss, it it acceptable to wear my nightie in the communal areas? I have got dressed already today, I went to church this morning, but then came home and had a nap. Now I'm sitting in my room with a nightie on. For clarity, it's t-shirt style and goes past my knees, and I'm wearing underwear. I just don't know if it's allowed, if that makes sense?

I would stick some leggings and a t shirt on. Or pj bottoms underneath.

The only leggings I own are part of a pajama set. Grin I've only recently moved in and don't know where all my clothes are (still in bags) but I managed to find a skirt and a top and fished them out.

Do you have a dressing gown? In my own house yes but house share probably not.

I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed Confused if you were wearing a short dress or skirt, would you have to wear tighhts in the communal area? If not, crack on!

Honflyr · 10/09/2018 09:19

It goes past your knees and you're wearing underwear! I fail to see the issue.

PremierNaps · 10/09/2018 09:25

Do it! I do 😊 it doesn't harm anyone and you feel comfortable.

SapphireSeptember · 10/09/2018 10:12

I'll crack on then! I don't know why I'm feeling weird about it, last year I stayed at a hotel and went down to breakfast in my nightie (I also had underwear on that time) and thought nothing of it. Although apparently it's not the done thing! A nightie is my default indoor clothing.

It’s really bad manners and inappropriate to go to a hotel dining room for breakfast in your pyjamas or night gown. Really ignorant behaviour, and puts everyone else in an embarrassing situation.

But in your own home, as long as you’re fully clothed and covered, I’d say that’s ok.

But please in future wear proper clothes in the public areas of hotels.

Nothisispatrick · 10/09/2018 14:12

A bit odd that you’d go to hotel breakfast in your pjs but not walk around your house!

aperolspritzplease · 10/09/2018 14:14

How bizarre that you'd wear a nightie to breakfast and not in a communal area of a shared house!!

SapphireSeptember · 10/09/2018 14:40

In my defence I didn't know it was bad manners at the time! I thought about people going shopping in their PJs, and although I wouldn't do that I didn't see anything wrong with going to eat my breakfast in a nightie that looks no different to a t-shirt dress. Since learning that I wondered if it was seen as unacceptable in other areas of life. Of course now I wouldn't go down to breakfast in a hotel in my nightie.
