Giant lego storage box FAIL

CremeDeSudo · 09/09/2018 09:53

You know those giant lego storage boxes you can get? (See photo) Seems to me the gaps in the bottom are a ridiculously obvious fail as all the little pieces get stuck down there.

I've just helped DS get them out resulting in tiny blocks and Ninjago weapons pinging around the room. Will be finding them for months.

So I'm thinking I should stuff something down the gaps to prevent this happening again - anyone done this successfully? I don't want to stuff things down there only for it to not work and also not come out again! Help please Mumsnet!

Could you fill them with that silicone stuff you seal baths and showers with?
Or line the whole thing with a piece of plastic cut to size

Tube of silicone sealant, quick splodge would do the trick

AornisHades · 09/09/2018 10:00

We put some thin rubber tubing in.

We have these, stupid design but the boxes do look good and stack well. I taped some of the cardboard packaging to the bottom of the boxes (too incompetent to use any sealant etc)

Tape

Put tiny pieces in zip lock style food bags. Then place in box with the bigger bits.

I just used a glue gun to fill ours.

CremeDeSudo · 09/09/2018 10:21

We don't have any sealant or a glue gun...how difficult will it be to use the sealant d'you think if I've never done it before?

DS will definitely not keep the small bits in a separate bag!

Plasticene? Maybe fill out with tissue first and a sausage of plasticene over the top? Or clear tape.

EekThreek · 09/09/2018 11:00

Can't you just sellotape over it?

Racecardriver · 09/09/2018 11:02

Just use some poly filler very easy.

CremeDeSudo · 09/09/2018 11:46

I've taped over the top. Duh. 😁
