Food bank faux pas??

I was given (not sure why) a massive box of packs of incontinence pads and pants.
I've been trying to give them away.
No one wants them. I've tried hospices, hospitals, help the aged etc
Worst of all food banks. Russel trust person said and I quote "we don't take things like that!" And laughed whilst hanging up.

Now, I only asked because they've asked for personal items before.
I now feel like giving them nothing (stroppy)

Was I wrong to ask?

Have a look to see if your local area has a charity collecting for the Syrian refugee camps. My area does and would very happily take incontinence pads, stoma bags etc

Depending onbwhat size rhey are Op local charities might take them childrens disabillity charities if they are small enough or adult disability charities?

I suspect the person you talked to was just ignorant or uncomfortable about talking about bodily functions.

However, there’s a slim chance it may be because incontinence pads are supplied free of charge via district nursing. They are hideous bricks though, so if yours are better they’d be brilliant for someone. The issue would be tactfully finding out who.

Incontinemce. Pads and nappies are supplied free of charge but there is never enough of them ime .

I’d agree with unwanted gift if the item wasn’t on the shelf of the supermarket the deposit box was in, though on reflection it surely must have been. And bollocks to insinuating I’m saying the poor can’t have nice things, I was born in a council flat, I’m well aware what poverty looks like and duck confit wouldn’t have been a welcome sight to any family I knew.

AamdC · 09/09/2018 17:02

Well exactly Fishy and tbh i cant imagine many children wanting ro eat it (although im sure there will be many poster s saying their kids relish it)IRL most kids wouldnt touch it wirh a barge pole

Offs. It’s duck it’s not bloody hyena.

Fishywishyhead · 09/09/2018 17:44

It’s duck slop. Even my adventurous olive eating child would cry if presented with a tin of duck slop.

TatianaLarina · 09/09/2018 18:14

Olive eating is adventurous is it?

Confit is roast duck legs with herbs.

Fishywishyhead · 09/09/2018 21:06

You’re right. Olives, confit and chicken nuggets. Part of your average child’s diet.

District Nursing team linked to your GP surgery?
