Does anyone have the Hive heating/light kit in their home?

I'm looking for some reviews before I buy. I mainly want it so I can turn the lights off from work (the kids go to school and leave the whole house lit up) and DH wants it to fiddle with the heating at various times. The package comes with Alexa too.
I don't understand how it works, do you have to wire something into the lights some how or are they WiFi lights? 😳

Hi, we had Hive in our last house and again in our new house, was the first thing to be installed!
We have Philips hue lightbulbs which are controlled through WiFi like hive.
Wouldn't be without them!
Really handy for the dogs in the winter time to be able to put the lights on and set timers.
Hive is fab for putting on the hot water/ heating when on the way home from work or walking the dogs etc.

Oh we also have Alexa which we use for playing music throughout the house mainly and setting our alarms in the morning.

We have it, Hive heating, some hive bulbs and plugs (that lamps are plugged into), and an Alexa (or three Blush). It is good for controlling the heating from your phone, also the lights/plugs, BUT if someone turns a light bulb off at the switch then it's "offline" and you can't turn it back on remotely. If you want to be able to turn it back on again then you need to turn it off via either the hive app or Alexa.

You need a hive hub, but after that it's all through wifi

About to have Hive installed with new boiler. Can anyone offer tips on the best add-ons please. Are the lights any better than having plugin timers? The bulbs seem to cost ££. Apparently we can link up via an echo.

I heard from citizens advice that hive was a British Gas thing. And expensive, required installation by engineer etc.

I would do some research to see if there are cheaper alternatives. My last boiler had a wireless thermostat that allowed much more detailed fiddling than a traditional one...eg I could set it for a particular temperature between certain times, lower during the night, higher first thing in the morning, again at lunchtime, and in the evening, and it was programmable according to the day of the week too. Phillips hue do smart lighting.

I bought my hive from John Lewis and just installed it myself. I wouldn't be without it.
