'Steady away'

Anyone know what this expression means and where it comes from ? I have been hearing it for donkeys' years in Leeds - my home city - but I'm clueless about it. It's not something I've ever said.

Depending on context something like good journey or take care I assume

I'm not from anywhere near Leeds but now work there and hear this at work a fair bit. Kinda just means all good. Closest equivalent from work contexts would be an Aussie saying No Dramas.

So if someone asked me how DS's first week at school had been I could say "fine, couple of wobbles but we're pretty much steady away"
