Every single week/two weeks. We have screaming, crying, he gets all sweaty, and shaking!
Every time I tell him it won’t hurt, but he can remember the one time years ago I made him bleed because he moved.
To make it worse his toe nails always curl inwards 😷

He’s 9!! This is ridiculous. How will he be when he’s older?!

Do it while he's asleep. It was the only way I ever managed to cut my my dds nails.

topsyanddim · 07/09/2018 19:09

I thought you were going to say he was a baby and was going to suggest doing it when he’s asleep. That’s quite an extreme reaction for a 9 year old!

My DD act like I’m trying to kill her if I attempt to use a nail file- she’s 12

My 3 year old will let me do her fingers but not her toes, no idea why. She used to let me no problem and then one time completely flipped out and it's been that way ever since and she doesn't have a reason why, I've never caught her or anything. So now it's a case of putting her on the sofa ad lock her leg between mine and try be as fast as possible while she's screaming murder. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I was hoping she'd grow out of it but since your son is 9 it doesnt look likely.

Keeptrudging · 07/09/2018 19:12

DD kept up the nail cutting 'I am being murdered' drama until I lost the plot with her and told her to cut her own troll nails as I wasn't going to any more. Probably about the same age as your son. She sobbed her way through cutting them the first time, but managed without losing any toes.

The kids hate me cutting their nails with scissors, and much prefer DH does it with nail clippers. Would a change in implement help?
Alternatively, my 9 yr old pretty much cuts his own nails now. Could he do it, and you take over if not done?

My girl is 10. I have to pay her a quid to do her toe nails. And that's when they are at Guiness World Record length. You'd think I was drowning kittens in front of her not cutting her frigging nails.

i know its not an ideal solution, but you could try something like this? www.amazon.co.uk/Baby-NailsTM-Hands-Free-Standard-Newborns/dp/B01M3NFAW9?tag=mumsnetforum-21

Honestly he’s this over reaction to everything!!

He has some sort of dandruff atm. It’s stuck in his hair, I saw a chunk literally hanging off the end of his hair, he wouldn’t even let me touch me as apparently I’m pulling his scalp off. He screams and cries. I’m not even allowed to look at it!! It’s driving me insane!!
