Multivitamins

It was recommended that I take a multivitamin and mineral supplement so I’ve been taking one a day for around 2 weeks now. Can’t say I’ve noticed any difference if I’m honest but maybe it’s early days. It works out at about £16 a month (a lot of money for me!)

Are they actually effective? I was under the impression that they were a waste of time. I feel wiped out quite often but I don’t feel better and full of energy when I eat well (stomach issues). I’m wondering if I’m just wasting my money on vitamins.

£16 a month for vitamins? I take one daily. Costs about £2 for about 3 months! Cheapo ones from the supermarket but have 100% of all major vits and minerals. Can't say I notice a difference to be honest. I also take a high dose of vit d prescribed by docs so a prescription charge every few months or so.

I've never felt a health benefit from taking vitamins but I suppose I have a relatively good diet anyway.

But man alive, you've paying a ridiculous amount for your vitamins.

Is there a particular concern you're hoping to address by taking a multivitamin?
If so maybe you might be better taking a specific supplement for your issue

Who recommended that you take them? Your GP?

I didn’t choose the vitamins, these were the ones recommended to me by a dietician (the idea was to take a good quality one for a couple of months then go to a cheaper one I think). Yes, I know you can buy them much much cheaper and I’m asking/wondering if the cheaper ones are as effective as the more expensive ones and if vitals in general are effective. I won’t be buying them again as I can’t afford the upkeep anyway unless I suddenly feel transformed by them. I guess it’s mostly to help me be less tired/ work out. Ferrous fumerate alone doesn’t seem to work either.

You're going to have to ask your dietician for a suitable cheaper formulation.

Personally, I doubt there's much difference for most of the ingredients, but it might be important to have particular formulations for some nutrients.

As you said dietician (which is a protected professional term) rather than any of the many other (unregulated) nutrition experts, your shouid be in safe hands with your practitioner.
