I go to the gym and classes, but I'm bored and I need to do something else different....or not. I don't know.

Thanks

Love this

Yoga and biking for fitness

Cuddling and walking dogs

Music - play in a few bands.

Wish I had time for more!

QueenOfCatan · 07/09/2018 22:53

Knitting, crochet, studying for fun (usually languages). I dabble in kayaking and canoeing too.

QueenOfCatan · 07/09/2018 22:57

You can use the bcu website to find a club who will take on beginners OP! (for kayaking and canoeing) they usually let you have up to three sessions to trial it before joining, sometimes only one or two though admittedly. Now is a good time to join as a lot of clubs use pools for practice during the colder months which makes your first capsize a bit easier as if you open your eyes it's not murky and the water isn't very cold!

Painting and drawing. Just a warning though it is very addictive and can make you see the world in a completely new way. It is absorbing, relaxing and takes you into a different place. Very theraputic.

Reading, baking, crochet, knitting, yoga, glass fusing. Or sometimes just laying on the settee daydreaming. Grin

serbska · 08/09/2018 18:08

Oh yes and hiking. And camping.

serbska · 08/09/2018 18:10

And DP is a paddler, I’m not really, but will do flat water trips with the boys as long as it’s just one day. I like the journey of it.

serbska · 08/09/2018 18:11

Photography, I love it, I'm out in all weather's, early mornings shooting sunrise, night time shooting starscapes and have hundreds of my young children, it's really therapeutic and I notice small things in everyday life that interest me whereas they'd have passed me by before.

Only downside is people always ask me to do favours, I've been asked to photograph pets, children, a christening and a local business all for free or a bottle of wine, they don't seem to realise the time put into it from photographing to post processing to printing.

biglips · 08/09/2018 21:42

Wow.... This is so interesting to read.

I used to do archery but the local club I was in, they were like 20 years older than me..they were lovely people but there weren't any my age. May try again as not been for a few years.

I am going back into aquafit as I loved that and I really fancy the idea of outdoor watersports and photography but I need to buy a good expensive camera.

Crochet. Taught myself and its so relaxing to sit and crochet of an evening. Bit addictive once you start though, seems there's always more yarn that could be bought...

Biggreygoose · 09/09/2018 11:47

Clay shooting.

Much more egalitarian atmosphere than the archery clubs I have been in. And greater cross section of ages.

Plus it's a shit load more fun and takes up less time than archery. A round of 100 only takes an hour or so if the ground isn't busy.

Unless you end up travelling to all parts of the country to compete of course...

Greyhorses · 09/09/2018 11:51

Horse riding.

Or rather throwing so much ££££ at the horse I don’t dare count it up and spending a good 6 months of the year freezing, penniless, up to the knees in mud and shovelling crap.

Love it Grin

YouWereRight · 09/09/2018 11:57

Prepping

pumpkinyael · 09/09/2018 15:01

@serbska

We don't even have children yet. (Although we are expecting!)

But then again, gardening, reading and rowing isn't too bad, I suppose.
I would however like to do a martial art or self-defence. I haven't been shooting in a long time so clay pigeon shooting sounds interesting as well.

Maybe when I'm old? I can't see myself having more time for hobbies for the next few years...
