What do your two year olds want for Christmas?

Asked the two year old what he wants santa to fetch for Christmas ( he understood it all last year and remembers so thought I'd see what he wants and get a head start on shopping) his list is
Cement mixer
Dump truck
Steam roller
Cars
Tools
New computer ( we don't even have a computer so don't know where he's got that from)
I was expecting a slightly wackier list from a two year old, thought he'd ask for a bouncy castle or a unicorn or something ridiculous, so it got me wondering, what do your two year olds say they want for Christmas if you've already asked them?

A one year old understood Christmas??? Really? And you're asking him in September so you will now have 4 months of asking and anticipation and excitement building. How about doing Halloween and firework night first? Sorry, I know this is Chat not AIBU but there's something really odd about your OP..no one year old understands Christmas in the way you suggest and for what it's worth I don't think a two year old should be getting to make a shopping list. It's hard explaining to kids that 'Santa' can't afford x, y and z or that it was sold out! Just chat to him generally about things he likes and get some ideas but don't mention Christmas. In terms of what you actually asked I would suggest some crafty stuff, paints, play doh, kinetic sand is ace.

I also don’t believe a one year old understands what Christmas is. My DS will be 2 in November and if I asked him what he wanted for Christmas his answer would probably be a biscuit

He was one and a half at Christmas he understood Santa was coming and fetching toys, his language is quite ahead I think that's why he understood it early. I forgot moon sand even existed tbh

Just asked my just turned 3yo DD. She wants a really really big pretty sparkle baby Grin

I just asked DS (2.5) he wants 'green train please'

My 2.5 year old is obsessed with Christmas. We listen to Christmas songs in the car at his insistence, read Christmas books at night and he regularly talks to me about Santa as though he is a member of the family. I think it's partly due to Stick Man. I'm not sure he 'understood' last year but he does remember it and is beginning to piece all the bits together now.

He has the insert from a vtech toy which has all the pictures of the other vtech toys. He spends a great deal of time choosing what he is going to get and what all of the family and his friends are going to get (including their parents). He calls it his Santa Instructions Grin

He's also obsessed with pink so wants a pink scooter, pink car and pink t-shirt that he can wear to pink school apparently.

When my DS was just turned 2 he asked for "An ambulance. With doors that open."

Aftereights91 · 07/09/2018 07:39

@PawneeToday hmm the rest is probably manageable, not sure how your manage pink school haha

I think mine sort of understood at 18 months as well- I was surprised though. But she wasn’t excited, hated visiting Santa and cried (not happy tears) when she saw all the presents so I don’t think she fully got it and probably was a bit overwhelmed. This year I think will be different and I suspect nursery will get her into extreme excitement mode as well. I won’t be asking her yetbecause otherwise she’ll think Santa is coming tomorrow and my life will be harder then it needs to be!

PawneeToday · 07/09/2018 09:02

User - our DS was totally overwhelmed last year too. It took us 3 days to open his presents. Lesson learned! We've decided ten presents this year, some big, some small.

Mammatron · 07/09/2018 09:06

Just to back the OP up, my ds was 20 months last Christmas and understood that F.C. and the reindeers were going to land on the roof and bring presents. He was very excited Christmas Eve and kept shouting "Kistmas" as he drifted off to sleep!
