Might be a sensitive topic. I have always had very dry, eczema prone skin. My skin gets so dry and flaky and my nipples are no exception. A few months ago I noticed they started to become particularly dry and sore. I noticed little light brown/orangey cracked patches started to appear. Never really thought anything of it, put it down to the dry skin and chaffing on my bra. Tonight though I noticed the little patches are still there and felt a bit concerned so I Googled what it could mean and of the 3 sites i visited they all said most likely a type of breast cancer 😢 I am now in a right state and feel completely terrified. I feel so fucking stupid that I just brushed it off as dry skin when I noticed it months ago 😢 my heart is pounding and I can't stop crying I'm really scared.

That also sounds like DS's skin condition, which is fungal. He has to take a tablet and use a topical wash when it flares up. Its always most likely to flare up in hot weather, or when he's been sweating.

I hope your GP can put your mind at rest. If you can't get an appointment quickly, ask to see the practice nurse.

Please step away from google! A while ago I had a mole that turned crusty and looked like it was bleeding. Of course, google said it was skin cancer and I feared a horrible diagnosis. After a trip to the doctor the next day, it turned out it was just a weird wart that needed freezing off. The human body is very weird and complex so it could be any manner of things.

How old are you and is there any family history? For most premenopausal women the risk of breast cancer is low. Obviously you need to see someone asap but try to rest up tonight so you can think straight tomorrow.

Yes Upstart especially when you consider the ridiculous hot spell we've had. Or contact dermatitis. Do see your GP, and try to get some rest tonight. Have something a bit comforting like a horlicks or maybe a medicinal brandy tonight.

Thank you all so much for your replied. I know it was stupid googling it, I need to learn to not do that. I am having a shit time with depression and anxiety (surprise surprise). I am nearly 30 for the poster who asked. But I am quite over weight which I know can increase the chance of cancer.

Oh and no family history as far as I know.

hands away from keyboard. NO DR. GOOGLE for you!

Singingitoverandoverandover · 05/09/2018 00:10

Also if it’s both nipples that would be unusual for cancer I would imagine it would just be the one?

RubyPreciousJewel · 05/09/2018 00:13

Singing- I never even thought of that in my panic- stricken hyperventilation episode 😳 yes it's both nipples.

I think it's extremely unlikely to be breast cancer in both nipples at once. Eczema/fungal infection/contact dermatitis is so much more likely. Very much more likely!

Try not to cry Flowers you'll be ok.

BuffyBee · 05/09/2018 00:28

Don't panic! Just wanted to re-iterate what everyone is saying.
It very doubtful to be cancer in both nipples. Go to the Doctors or ask to see the Practice Nurse.
Also, is just like to say, what lovely people there are on MN.
Not all vipers at all.

We used to say MN is love and knuckles back in the day .

RubyPreciousJewel · 05/09/2018 00:43

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I feel a lot better now and have stopped crying. Feel quite silly for being so dramatic now 😳 I will ring the gp first thing and calm the fuck down Blush. Once again thank you for the hand hold.

Have an affectionate hair scruff from me. And up the wooden stairs please . Don't forget to brush your teeth.

I read somewhere that 80% of medical advice on the internet is wrong and 50% of it is dangerous.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/09/2018 01:02

Everyone's dramatic in the middle of the night!
