NC and posting on here as can’t really talk to any one in RL about it.

Just looking to vent to other buisness owners about how fucking stressful itvis running your own buisness.

We had a dreadful summer. And to make sure we managed to pay our staff we have eaten massively in to our savings as we have huge outgoings. It’s a new business just under 12 months old.

Feel ill with it today. We’re in the shit financially and bills are mounting up. Dc school needs paying to day and I’m refreshing my bank account to see if payments have landed but they are taking their time Sad

I feel like throwing the towel in but dh is optimistic as it’s starting to pick up again.

Any one been here?

I wouldn’t say it would cause sour relationships it all depends on the credit controller but providing you set out your expectations to them on how you want you client to be handled then the relationship should stay the same. Ie if payment terms are 30 days then get them to gently call on day 40 for an update, day 50 for a further up date, day 60 a gentle email, lay it out how you want and provide templates of how you want letters/emails worded then it should be fine. You could also pre warn all customers that you are taking these steps to help the company meet customer demands and to continue the growth of the company :)

It's tough I do all the admin for our family business, that means credit control, cash flow, office supplies you name it. You need a different person to nag for payment, even if it's just an email address. Then your dh can blame them for requesting payment. I ask for an update on due date, then a date when we can expect payment and then finally, I'll recommend halting outstanding work if we're not paid. None of those are bailiffs, but when you're hassling daily big companies will get fed up.
