Sorry if this is too much information but I don’t know what else to do. I’m 22 and I’m having problem with my downstairs area. I’m irritated all of the time, I am so itchy, and have cuts where I have been itching and very swollen and uncomfortable, I always think it’s thrush so I use the likes of canestan, vagisil etc... I’ve tried cranberry juice just in case it may be an infection and nothing seems to be working. The only way I can describe it is like I’ve given birth again how much pain and agony I am in. I have a 3 year old and it seems to be since LO has been here it’s never been the same which I understand but why am I in so much pain constantly. I’ve been to the doctors but they just prescribe me cream they haven’t actually looked they’ve just fobbed me off. I have explained it to my mother and she is constantly getting on to me to get it seen to but I’m very shy and uncomfortable to how swollen I am etc... I have been with my partner now for 4 year, I have been tested for sti etc... and have never had anything me or my partner hasn’t so I know it’s not that. Sorry if this is TMI but I don’t even enjoy sex it hurts so bad, I had an internal scan shortly after I had my LO and nothing came back but now I just don’t know what else to do or try. I have very good hygiene, I bath every day and if I’m at work I go in morning and night. Please does anyone have any advice it’s very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Go to a sexual health clinic - not because I think it's an still but because they check for lots of things, it's how my unusual strain of thrush got diagnosed. Ended months and months of misery!

I agree to go to a sexual health clinic. Just google your nearest one that is open so you can be seen, soon.

They deal with all things to do with your genitals, not just STIs, which is why they used to be called GUMs (Genitourinary Medicine Clinics).

They will treat or sign post you. The Staff there have seen/heard everything before, so I think there is no embarrassment factor, if that's an issue.

I agree, go to the GUM clinic (they arent called that now but they should be imo).

Change what you wash with, try baby bath.
Also your washing powder and softener. Use something very gentle and give your knickers an extra rinse in warm water.

What they said.

Agreed with the posters above. My friend used to get the most horrendous thrush and got the same response from her gp. She eventually went to the gui clinic and they sorted it for her, took samples of cells etc and she’s not looked back since

I was also advised by a consultant recently that when you have thrush, it is a bad idea to have a bath. He said people think it will help, but it doesn't.
