Is no mirror in bathroom / loo a thing now? And if so, WHY??

Just that really. I’ve noticed over the last year that a growing number of people’s hoses be been round to don’t have a mirror in the loo, and one doesn’t have one in the bathroom.
Is this a thing now? How do you do your hair/makeup/shave/check your teeth etc?
The ones that don’t have a mirror in the guest loo are particularly annoying!

I've no idea, but it wouldn't work for me. I've got 5 mirrors in my main bathroom!

KarrisWhiteOak · 03/09/2018 19:37

I’ve noticed this in a few homes with downstairs loo, no mirror!
I’m not vain but nice to make sure I’ve nothing in my teeth or no eyeliner running.

AhHaaa · 03/09/2018 19:44

Can't say I've noticed this trend. And I'm a housekeeper for a living. Would make my job a lot easier to have less bathroom mirrors to polish! Hope it catches on Grin although not in my own home

Guest rooms without a mirror are also annoying!

I don’t have a mirror in the bathroom. It don’t do my hair or make up in the bathroom. I have a big mirror, the only one in the house, in the back hallway. Which is where I do my hair and make up.

dawnc27 · 03/09/2018 19:56

i dont have one. the only mirror in the house is a large one in the living room. but i also dont wear any make up at all so this may be partly why

daffodillament · 03/09/2018 19:56

No. It's weird. Surely all loo's need a mirror !

evilharpy · 03/09/2018 19:57

My parents lived in the same house from when I was 4 until I was about 32 and in all that time they never had a mirror in the bathroom. Every friend and boyfriend I ever had to stay complained (not rudely) about it.

Natsumi · 03/09/2018 20:00

I don’t have one in the bathrooms or any rooms really, just have a small one inside the wardrobe door! I don’t wear makeup and don’t need one to do my hair, so just never really need one much!

skislope · 03/09/2018 20:11

We have one in every room! Apart from kitchen and utility room. Although they're high up decorative ones in sitting room and dining room so I can't see my reflection! Not having one in bathroom would be strange.

cariadlet · 03/09/2018 20:18

I don't have one in the downstairs toilet. I can't see the need for one - never even thought of it before this thread.

We have a shaving mirror in the bathroom for dp. That's plenty big enough. I wouldn't like to accidentally catch sight of myself if I was sitting on the toilet or relaxing in the bath.

Rebecca36 · 03/09/2018 20:20

I've not come across that. Maybe the loos you visited recently have had the mirrors removed for essential maintenance. Just a thought.

TheKitchenWitch · 03/09/2018 20:24

Ah so it clearly IS a thing, but not a new one.

I hadn't thought of myself as vain, but I definitely like to know what I look like. And not having one in the guest loo really pisses me off - I've often popped in to sort out my lenses, or check I haven't got bits in my teeth etc and it's massively annoying to find there isn't one in there.

I thought it was a standard thing to have above the sink, either on a cabinet or just on the wall, but clearly not.

Rebecca36 no, there was no space where there might have been one, and if I mention it then it's met with "oh no, we don't have a mirror in there!" as if it was something unusual.

I hate mirrors, we have 3 mirrors in total. 2 huge ones in the middle bathroom that I can’t get off, hate that you sit down to watch yourself on the loo Confused
Another huge one in the ensuite and that’s it.

It’s freeing, not looking at yourself.

Same here. Don’t have one in the bathroom either as only the kids use it really. Have one small mirror in the ensuite but that’s it. Thinking i might put one up in the downstairs toilet now. It had never occured to me that anyone would want to use a mirror while visiting.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 03/09/2018 20:32

There’s no mirror in our downstairs cloakroom, but there’s a big mirror in both bathrooms and three out of four bedrooms. The fourth is used as an office.

brizzledrizzle · 03/09/2018 20:35

We don't have any mirrors on the wall in the house other than a full length one in the cloakroom but nobody ever uses that room so it's redundant. DD has a table top mirror in her room but that's the only one that is regularly used.

Faster · 03/09/2018 20:49

I don’t have a guest loo. They just use the only loo. And can check anything the need to check in the hallway mirror. To be perfectly honest how guests feel about mirrors makes no difference to how I decorate my home.
