Please talk to me about tefal frying pans!

Exciting topic, I know Grin DP and I are moving in together and looking to buy a frying pan and about two saucepans. I've decided on Tefal ones (because I'm losing the will to live looking through all the different brands!) but I am now confused by all the various ranges of Tefal. Expertise, intuition, emotion (John Lewis only?)..... We don't need the ones with detachable handles as we have enough space.

Please help!!

Forgot to mention price - we're not looking for the budget range, but something that will last. The frying pans that are about £25-35 look decent.

I haven't used one before BUT I got one at the weekend - a Tefal Precision Plus from Wilko on offer at £15. Asda also had some on offer too.

Planning on using it tonight....!

cjt110 Oo you'll have to let me know how it is! what has my life come to

There seem to be lots of good offers on at the moment at least!

We got two tefal frying pans for about £40 (the small ones) and they have been very good.

They get scorching hot and are actually better for steak etc than our griddle pan.

Heavy enough to feel secure and sturdy but no much so that you need two hands to move it, and of course they are a doddle to clean. You also need only a tiny bit of fat in them to fry stuff so healthier too.

I'm eyeing up a set of saucepans based on the frying pans lets put it that way

cjt110 · 03/09/2018 15:33

Do you actually need to apply oil to a non stick pan Billy?

Pinkandproud · 03/09/2018 15:33

Do you know what range they are BillywigSting? Just wondering if they are all decent or there is a fair bit of difference between them.

We also got ours from Asda.

Another thing, they're good for heating evenly so while they do get slight hot spots (think ours are mid range) they're not dramatic

Prescion plus I think though don't quote me, they are a few years old now.

You need to add a tiny bit otherwise you end up with a lot of smoke with things like fish or steaks but no not for everything by any means.

Also don't let anything metal go anywhere near them otherwise the coating will scratch and you can end up with bits of it in your food which you obviously don't want. Ours have been fine and not a mark on them though with just using wooden and nylon/silicone utensils

cjt110 · 03/09/2018 15:39

BillywigSting Thank you. We had a good, deep old one that was about 10 years old and finally gave up it's will to live forcing me into the mystery world of pans....

Look for tefal outlets too; theres one near me in Manchester and I picked up a frying pan for £9 down from about £30 and it’s one of the best household items I’ve ever bought! They’re so satisfyingly useful

ISeeTheLight · 03/09/2018 15:43

There are some decent Tefal ones on offer half prixw in our local Sainsbury's at the moment. We bought one the other day. Not the basic range as we have na induction hob and the cheap ones don't work on induction. We've already got some smaller ones if the same type and they've been fine. Intuition range I think?

ISeeTheLight · 03/09/2018 15:45

No it's this one we bought, they have other sizes too Sainsbury's

Anyone got this one? On offer in Sainsbury's...

ISeeTheLight · 03/09/2018 15:45

Ha! Cross post. Yes we bought that exact one and it's great.

Pinkandproud · 03/09/2018 15:48

ISeeTheLight Thanks! Is 32cm average size for frying pan?

A few months ago, I lived my dream of getting a tefal frying pan as they were on sale at Sainsbury's. We use it a lot. Fry ups, stir fry's, bolognese, Curry, chilli... everything and it's still perfect. Think it was the one that is usually around £25-30. I'd say go for it. Love the dream!

MouldyVoldy · 03/09/2018 15:59

*live the dream, even Grin

Pinkandproud · 03/09/2018 16:03

Ok I think maybe the Sainsbury's one is a good way to go since it's such a good offer!

Erm.....Can I ask the same questions about saucepans!?

32 cm is a pretty big pan but I like that. We also have a 24 and 28 cm pan.

Blubellesmum · 03/09/2018 16:45

I bought a tefal set about 30 years ago and still using them.

Have bought different pieces from other brands and keep going back to my tefal pans.

They seem to last forever if you take care of them.
