Gross things your DC have eaten off the floor?

This morning, I caught DS (7 months) happily shoving a dead moth he'd found under the radiator in his mouth Envy

What's the yuckiest thing your DC has tried (or succeeded) to eat?

Waiting for water by the drainpipe/drain to collect in my little tin teacup (dolly tea set) and drinking it. Yum ....not! Four years old with resulting impetigo. 🤢

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 03/09/2018 19:24

Not Tigger just Pooh?

NameChangeAgain712 · 03/09/2018 19:26

So many poo stories Envy I have to keep DS's hands out of the way when doing nappy changes as he likes to, um, fiddle(?! Grin). Definitely need to make sure he doesn't start to reach in for a snack!

Flip flops, slippers, shoes of any kind are common playthings in this house!

Slug. Poor DD is often reminded of that by her darling brothers.
But apparently I tried to eat my own poo as a toddler...

Grammar · 03/09/2018 19:29

In the 70s when I was about 5-7 years old I used to peel old chewing gum and bubble gum off the pavement and chew it

I caught my DS at 1 year/ 18 months old dunking his biscuit in the loo and eating it.

UpstartCrow · 03/09/2018 19:29

I found DS face down in a bowl of cat food at a mates house, with 2 fistfuls of cat food. Envy

savagebaggagemaster · 03/09/2018 19:33

Cat sick - I'm not even joking. Confused

DiscoDown · 03/09/2018 19:59

An earwig (I retrieved half of it from him 🤢), and he was quite fond of Dreamies cat treats for a while. No poo though, thank god!

I think savagebaggagemaster wins!

My dd was found aged about 15 months eating sweet corn kernels in the back garden.

We reckon she found them in the outside drain trap when some must have escaped in to the sink when we had had sweet corn 5 days earlier.

milleniumhandandprawn · 03/09/2018 20:14

DH came into the sitting room to see DD (around 12mts) with two wiggling spider legs hanging out of her mouth....
Now DH is absolutely terrified of spiders so he let her finish!ShockConfused

Tutulafromage · 03/09/2018 20:17

I remember years ago when we were little my baby sister was always eating earthworms from the garden...once had half of one hanging from her mouth!

itssquidstella · 03/09/2018 20:23

When I was five and had Irish dancing lessons I once ate a piece of bubble gum that was stuck to the inside of the toilet door in the changing rooms.

In my defence, my mum was strict about sweets and I was never allowed gum, so it was like coming face to face with the forbidden fruit.

Actually not sure that is much of a defence 🤢

mikeyssister · 03/09/2018 20:27

DD2 eat muck and gravel up to 2. Made dirty nappies very interesting to wipe. Bums scratch very easily when poos are gritty Envy not envy

Lillabet · 03/09/2018 21:05

DS1 chewing gum (his) off the floor outside, he's 9 and should know better! He ate sand when he was about 11 months old but otherwise not much he shouldn't.
DD1 chews her hair which we're trying to stop her doing and she should know better at nearly 6. She ate a small ball bearing and some Lego at around 18 months but very little otherwise as she has a digestive problem and I was very aware of what she was eating (did/do not want a repeat admission to the local children's hospital again).
DS2 nothing springs to mind beyond the odd sweetie off the floor at home.
DD2 has eaten her own poo, cat poo (DH was in charge on that occasion) and anything else she can get a hold of given half a chance! Confused She's well fed so not starving, I swear she does it to see how everyone reactsHmm
This is only what I know about mind you Grin

EvaHarknessRose · 03/09/2018 21:15

Dd1 as a toddler at the height of the bird flu panic ‘tasted’ from her finger some brown bird poo. Yuk and palpitations.

Mummybearcirca2011 · 03/09/2018 22:59

My daughter aged about 2 at the time had a good chew on some suspected fox poo...possibly cat poo. I managed to hook it out with my finger before she threw the biggest tantrum ever because I'd taken her num nums.

Cineraria · 04/09/2018 02:10

DS1: his poo from the potty
DS2: also DS1's poo. He just shoved his hand between his brother's legs into the potty and helped himself. Poor DS1 was really upset but his digestive system is so speedy that sometimes it really does smell just like the meal. They both did this the day after a Sunday roast!

Kraggle · 04/09/2018 02:25

Dd2 happily shoves handfuls of sand into her mouth and continually finds fluff/hair covered raisins that I’ve missed from just under the sofa. I’ve given up trying to stop her now.

My niece also ate a snail when she was around 1ish. 🤢

NameChangeAgain712 · 04/09/2018 06:48

There's a lot about chewing gum, forbidden fruit indeed Grin

Cineraria that is gross and hilarious!

This thread makes me feel less alone! I'm currently running around after a toddler trying to keep shit out of her mouth. The best one was the other day, I discovered she helped herself to a mouldy tomato from the bin.

HairsprayBabe · 04/09/2018 08:29

Baking with DSD (6) on Saturday.

DSD - Can I crack the egg in?

Me - Sure go ahead

DSD - cracks egg in and gets it all over her hand split yolk and all Ooopsy!

Me - turns back for 0.5 seconds to get a tea towel

DSD - Don't worry I licked it all off...

Me - boak

ladycarlotta · 04/09/2018 09:25

@hairspraybabe my half-sister (20 years younger) did this when I was about four. She cracked an egg pretty expertly and then licked it off her fingers. 'It's OK,' she reassured me, 'it tastes like nuffin''.

waddlemyway · 04/09/2018 11:33

When DD2 was about 4 or 5 months old I found a balloon in her nappy. It had been through her digestive system.

NameChangeAgain712 · 06/09/2018 13:20

Raw egg, nasty! And quite impressive to eat a balloon... I wonder if it started off inflated Grin
