Off to stay in Port Isaac in a couple of weeks. I know it's quite a small village, anyone have any recommendations for nice places to eat? Thanks.

Nathan Outlaw has a couple there. Also the Port Gaverne hotel.

Well, there's Nathan Outlaws, but I think it is very expensive. But fabulous!

If you do a day trip to Polperro The Blue Peter does amazing food, and is the nicest pub in the world.

Just had a look at the Nathan Outlaw restaurants, and they do look terrifyingly expensive! Port Gaverne looks nice. Also wondering about the Old School House.

Also nice pubs at St Kew, Chapel Amble and St Minver. Not been to the Old School House for a long while.

I went to a restaurant right down in the harbour a couple of years ago. It has windows open upstairs. The menu was quite expensive and the fish pie (cheapest main meal) was unavailable at 6pm. We ordered 2 fish dishes, around £14/£15. Mine was ok but my friends a risotto with very little fish in it, another diner had the same meal and complained too about the measly portions. Personally I think that you’re paying for the setting and not the quality/quantity of the food. Although 6pm and nearly empty (out of season) we were given a table upstairs at the back. We were told the window seat was booked, well maybe for later, but not 6pm it wasn’t. Still empty when we left an hour later, I wouldn’t go back. Sorry I can’t remember the name of the place, but to the right of the harbour, outside seating, a couple of tables. Think only restaurant there.

The fish and chip shop (opposite the School house) does lovely fish and chips. There’s often a queue outside.

A nice traditional pub - the Golden Lion. Have had great Sunday roasts.

That sounds lovely, thanks.

If you stand looking at the beach there's a pub on your right, at the top of the slope to the beach. I had the most amazing mussels there!

We always go to 'Fresh From The sea' whenever we visit Port Isaac. It is a small cafe, rather than restaurant, and it is at the top of the hill, before you walk down into the village itself. It is next to another cafe called Ruby Tuesday, which we've not tried.

They do amazing fresh seafood - this summer we had spider crab claws, lobster sandwich and smoked salmon. They also do oysters, dressed crab, whole lobster, chowder etc. I think that they sell wine and beer too, I'm not 100% sure.

It is a little gem that we love, and make a detour for whenever in Cornwall. They have 3 or 4 inside tables, and the same amount outside. Menu changes according to what has been caught locally.
