There is a cat in my bedroom

Just woken up and found a cat fast asleep on the chair in my bedroom.

I do not have a cat.

I have two dogs who would bark and chase a cat if they saw one.

The dogs have the run of downstairs during the night. There is a stair gate to stop them coming up stairs.

How has a cat got into my bedroom without my dogs going nuts???

To the PP mentioning spiders. Some people have an irrational fear of cats which they can’t help. I find that baffling, but would not dismiss that phobia. Similarly some people have an irrational fear of spiders - please don’t be dismissive of this very real phobia.

As you were.

Shallen

We took mine to the vet for microchip check, asked neighbours, knocked on doors left messages.

No way would I just adopt a cat without trying to locate the owner.

I woke up once on a boiling hot day with an awful, life threatening, impending doom, world ending level hangover. I staggered down to get pints of ice water and dotted them around the bedroom (I lived alone), had an icy cold shower complete with the beer shakes, opened all the windows and the back door for a through draft (draught? - sp) and fell back on the bed while I waited for death to catch me up.

I nodded off at some point and woke up with that dreadful feeling of being watched. Never good when you live alone, you're dying from the inside out and you're naked on the bed.

I managed to open an eye without vomiting and couldn't see anyone at the bedroom door. All good. No-one in the room. Also good. Then saw ENORMOUS ginger tom standing 2 foot from my face. I don't know who jumped higher, me or the cat.

He shot down the stairs and out the back door as I leapt off the bed in surprise. Still, the adrenaline shot helped me feel better for about 20 mins then I went back to dying. 3 day hangover that one. Not good.

I had a visitor cat he may have been a small panther he was huge

He would lie sprawled on my bed or across the floor in the living room while my cats pretended to ignore him

My cats have always visited others they know how desperate others are to be in their presence and will treat them every now and then to a few minutes of their time. My cat is quite nervous (have no idea why) but he likes to pop in next door, the family are loud lots of visitors dubious business goes on but he seems quite happy to visit

@sashh

That's the right way to go about it and hopefully most people would, but some don't sadly.
I'm all for giving a friendly stray a home and often hope to find a random stray kitten which we can take in (if it turns up at our house then DH can't make me get rid can he?!!)

My cat does this to the neighbors. She jumps from the fence onto their conservatory and into an open window. Curls up on their bed so they wake up for her asleep. Does this to both sides.

Bloody cat.

Luckily our neighbors are lovely and don't mind. She is well known in the neighborhood. slut

That thread! ❤️

I did a "Yay!" when she wasn't chipped and no one claimed her so he could keep her ☺️

Only last week I had to go and retrieve one of my cats and make my apologies because it turned out he had barged into someone's house, hissed at their cats, ate their food and settled down in their living room for a kip.

I hadn't seen him for a couple of days, wasn't particularly concerned as he's a bit of a wanderer and we live in a very cat safe area. I spotted him sunning himself in their garden and went to let the occupants know where he actually lived.

Some years ago, I did the 'rush into the house, busting for a wee, straight to the toilet' entrance to get to the bathroom to find that all the shampoos etc all over the place.

While I was sat there I could hear rustling behind the shower curtain, leading me to believe that there was a mad axe murderer hiding there.

As I was effectively trapped on the toilet I threw the curtain back to find that a bird had got in through the bathroom window and was sat in the bath, which was a huge relief as I was imagining all sorts had gone on in the rest of the house that I hadn't notice as I had run in and gone straight upstairs.

I opened the front door this morning, and a grasshopper jumped straight in and sat on the doormat.
Ruddy cheek.

Was he black OP? It may have been my sneaky lover boy cat. This is my cat. This is not my bed. It’s the neighbours Envy

My late DM had a stray cat that kept coming in and settling down to sleep in one of her 4 cats beds. None of them would confront him bunch of wusses. Eventually my DM adopted him.

ToadOfSadness · 02/09/2018 17:54

I currently have a large cat asleep on a chair, also not my cat.

He waited 5 years to get access to that chair because it belonged to my cat who would not let him in the room. I know where he lives though, and they know he makes himself at home where he fancies.

Barebum and Overnightangel.I told my mom about the kittens but kept them a secret from my dad(didn't like cats) so they lived in my wardrobe for about three weeks when I had to transfer them to our Utility room .Mommy cat wasn't a bit pleased and kept bringing them back to my bedroom through the window that she first came through that night. One of the kittens died but I found homes for the other two and mommy cat stayed with us along with our two dogs.

overnightangel · 03/09/2018 07:26
