Be that restaurant/pub/take away/wedding venue etc.

Had the best fish and chips of my life this week, two days in a row. Said to dh its on my top five. Then started thinking about the rest.

What would be yours? Mine in no particular order:-

The Bay fish and chips, Stonehaven, Scotland.
South Causey Inn, Beamish, England. - pub.
Miller and Carter - its a chain steak restaurant but did the best Chateaubriand ive ever had.
Landmark - chinese restaurant in our local China Town.
1964 - a fine dining place local to us thats never got enough people in im concerned it will close but everyone I know who has tried it said its amazing.

Anyone else?

Oooh I've been to the river cafe in Brooklyn too. The food is absolutely amazing, but the atmosphere is a bit stuffy. The tribecca grill in New York is also fantastic. My other 3 would be, a cart selling street food in Singapore (chicken satay ever), a random little thai resturant in Chippenham and a greek tavern in Molyvos (can't remember the name) up on the hill (amazing everything, but especially stiffado). It's so hard to keep it to 5. It'll probably change my mind tomorrow.

  1. Alistair little in London (decades ago, now, but was always my favourite ‘go to’)
  2. rockpool in Sydney
  3. sportsman’s inn, whitstable
  4. lone star, Barbados (for lunch, location blissful. Suspect cotton house in Mustique probably nicer, mind, but have never been there)
  5. the ivy, London just because it’s always where I meet good friends and drink gallons (actually, could say the same about the whistler room in the Tate. Or bob bob ricard).

Totally forgot, a bowl of cheap as chips chilli at the top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire. It was a hot August day down in the valley and we weren't quite prepared for how cold it would be 6000ft up, it was much needed and very tasty!
