Can a part qualified architect sign be a countersignatory?

My son needs a countersignitory (sp?) for his student loans application & we're a bit stuck.

A friend's son has a degree in architecture, has done his year's work experience and his masters & is now looking for a job. I don't think he's done his final exams.

I don't actually know the full process of becoming an architect, so I am not sure whether he'd qualify as a "professional" for this purpose.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Sorry...unclear title. Not sure where the extra "sign" came from.

I don't know about student loans but for things like passports they would expect a fully qualified professional.

Is there not a teacher, doctor, dentist, accountant, Engineer (registered) you know?
