What's your . Of FTE?

Morethanthisprovincallife · 31/08/2018 10:59

Sorry to be vague I have never done this.

If anyone can tell me if this is correct I would be most grateful.

Salary pro rata is 18000

Weeks worked is 39. That's assuming usual

Half terms, and school holidays in summer. I made that 13 weeks off.

I have other income of 8000.

So both incomes leave me with around

17973 after tax.

That's a boot 1497 each month.

Is pro rata paid each month? Or just weeks when working ie over summer holiday no pay.

It normally has a few weeks holiday pay too so 42/52 of 18k . Usually paid in 12 monthly installments.

SueDunome · 31/08/2018 11:09

This is how we would do it:
Salary will be £18,000 × 39/52 plus 39/52 of fulltime equivalent holiday pay, for state school this is likely to be 25 days plus Bank Holidays.
39/52 of 33 days = 24.75 days or 4.95 weeks, therefore total weeks paid = 39 + 4.95 = 43.95.
Parttime salary = £18,000 × 43.95/52 = £15,213 paid in twelve equal instalments.

Goodness with all usual holidays I didn't realise you might have extra holiday to take as well.

So with tax.. I'm looking at 368 per week.

Minus 108 for childcare per week

You don't get extra time off, it simply means some of the 13 weeks are paid.

grasspigeons · 31/08/2018 11:26

Is it for 37.5 hours a week? Or you need to work that bit out as well. E.g. a lot of TA jobs are 2t hours a week, term time only

Morethanthisprovincallife · 31/08/2018 11:36

9 to 5 x 3

9 to 3 x 2

Hours.

OP posts:
grasspigeons · 31/08/2018 11:56

So probably 34 hours?
So 34/37.5
And 43/52

BarbaraofSevillle · 31/08/2018 12:27

Depends on what time deductions are made for lunch as to how many hours a week and also how pro ratad depending on what is considered full time by your employer, but the weeks paid for should be 39 weeks plus 5.6 weeks if minimum legal paid leave of 28 days.

So the calculation would be hours worked/full time hours x 44.6/52 x £18k. They take this amount and then pay you as if you earn it every month, to help with budgeting presumably, as most people would rather be paid, say £1000 every month, rather than some months get £1250, some months earn £600 and some months nothing.

If your other income is taxable, you need to also ensure that you have paid tax on your total income, whether it is by splitting your tax code, or doing a tax return.

Morethanthisprovincallife · 31/08/2018 22:24

Thanks Barbara.

Looks like my hours will be less now, all income taxable yes.

Even on contract will I get that extra holiday week? S.

I will get less pay but more than I thought with the holiday thing unless I'm on some sort of contact that avoids that.
