Can you tear something when you vomit?

Because I’m in agony and just looking to distract myself while I wait for my 10am gp appointment.

I’ve had what I’m fairly sure is noro virus the last two days, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I must have vomited at least once per hour since it started the early hours of Tuesday morning.

I’ve woken up this morning feeling like someone is sitting on my chest, it’s even hurting my teeth! Normal pain killers aren’t touching it.

I called up my gp asking for a phone appointment but the receptionist said they didn’t do those, so she’s asked me to go in at ten. I did tell her about my bug so I’ll do my best to anti bac everything on me and touch nothing while in the waiting room, wouldn’t want my worst enemy to get this!

Sorry I’m just rabbiting, trying to take my mind off of it. Has anyone else had something like this after catching a stomach bug?

Is there blood in your vomit? I think you can tear something. I did this in pregnancy and had this. It did heal itself but you are right to get it checked

JillCrewesmum · 30/08/2018 08:45

You could have badly strained a muscle in your back or neck?

JillCrewesmum · 30/08/2018 08:45

Or could it be acid?

No, thankfully there has been no blood. It’s extremely painful though, and making me feel a bit dizzy.

(I realise I sound like a wimp but I’m not usually)

Yea you absolutely can. I'm sorry you feel so awful. I even managed to crack a rib coughing. It was a he'll of a cough but even so 'just' coughing. I've not done as much damage falling off my horse. They gave me very strong painkillers which took the edge off it.

*hell stupid autocorrect

Ouch Winegumaddict! I’m hoping for something similar, was hoping to get some work from home done today.

Sorry you aren’t well but it is sooooooooooo contagious and you could potentially infect a whole waiting room.
Ensure you tell them again when you get there-feel better soon.

Cecil2286 · 30/08/2018 08:57

I know Itchytights, I did tell the receptionist twice but she insisted I should come in.

I’ve looked it up and it seems to be (TMI) contact with vomit or feces that causes the infection to spread. I’m going thouroughly scrub myself and touch nothing.

You can burn your oesophagus with the acid from repeated vomiting. It feels like fire all the way down and you can have blood in your vomit. It's horrid. It even burns to breathe.
You can pull and tear the muscles between your ribs. I did this once and it was so painful I found it difficult to breathe, it felt as though I was having a heart attack.

Flowers I hope the doctor can sort you out with some relief

Batteriesallgone · 30/08/2018 09:01

Yes you can, although in my experience they are reluctant to prescribe anything, for fear of whatever painkillers they prescribe masking deterioration of the illness (if that makes sense).

CMH123 · 30/08/2018 21:54

How are you now OP?

Jholli · 16/01/2023 23:37
