Excessively sweaty DD

Hi just looking for some advice my DD has just turned 12 she is not very active but is always so sweaty and it is really strong smelling. She has a shower and clean clothes every day and I have bought her a range of deodorants(roll on and spray, Mitcham, sure etc) but it doesn't really make any difference. A lot of her tops are destroyed as it doesn't really come out in the wash. She is starting secondary school next week and I just don't know what to do for her. She has asd so will have enough challenges in a new school without also being the "smelly girl".

A few options: www.boots.com/driclor-solution-roll-on-applicator-10050231

Does she use proper soap (not shower gel)?

Might be worth seeing the GP.

Thanks. We use shower gel is it not much the same thing as soap?

No. Shower gel won't really get rid of proper sweat. Try an actual soap (not a fancy smelling or moisturising one).

Is she actually washing her arm pits thoroughly? I found with my niece that she was showering often but not actually cleaning herself very well.

Also, does she need to shave her armpits? Might help.

Soap, medicated deodorant (ie Mitchum, dri -clor), school shirts on a hot wash with bio detergent (if no skin allergies). Also, do you suspect any food allergies - ie dairy intolerance is suspected to cause smellier sweat

Might she have hyperhidrosis?

crocsaretoocoolforschool · 29/08/2018 21:06

My dd also has asd and made a great show of using deodorant -except she wasn't because she didn't like the feel of it

Shower gel doesn't clean properly. She needs to be using soap and making sure she is thoroughly lathering her whole body. Does she actually know how to do this? Shaving pits would help too. Stay away from deodorants and body sprays. She needs anti perspirant.

Thanks everyone there are definitely some things here that I haven't thought of and will try.

Use dettoll anti bacterial soap and a flannel, she really needs to scrub herself clean. It's the bacteria on the skin which is causing the odour. Also, check her diet and make sure she drinks plenty of water.
