Help! What's this on DS's leg

This raised rash started appearing when we were inside and has come up in more places since he first noticed it. Looks like some kind of sting but I can't work out how it could have happened. It's under where his clothes were.

Any ideas?

TIA

Looks like urticaria (hives). Has he eaten anything unusual? Or could be from sweating... depending on age try a piriton or similar, cool bath/shower and if it’s itchy a mild steroid cream like eurax or HC45 would help

OneOfTheGrundys · 28/08/2018 17:45

It looks like nettle stings?

Is he ok in himself?

Piriton if you have any?

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 28/08/2018 17:46

I was going to say it looks like he's brushed against a plant of sorts, but you've been indoors so it can't be that. No idea then , sorry.

Looks exactly like nettles Confused

Have you checked his clothes?

missyB1 · 28/08/2018 17:47

Urticaria would be the medical term I think, basically means allergic reaction rash. He needs some piriton.

ifiwasabutterfly · 28/08/2018 17:52

Has he had antibiotics? My dd came up with something similar all over her body when she had penicillin.

Helpwhatsthis · 28/08/2018 17:52

We have been outdoors but had been in at least 25 minutes when it appeared. It looked like nettles to me but it's where his trousers were and doesn't sting.

It's on both legs but only his legs.

I have lots of allergies but it doesn't like quite like an allergy to me. Unfortunately we are away and piriton is the one thing I haven't got. I'll see if i can track some down. I've put steroid cream on anyway as I did have that.

Well it looks like a hystimine reaction so really needs an anti hystimine.

Are they new trousers/change in laundry detergent perhaps?

OneOfTheGrundys · 28/08/2018 18:09

I react like that after nettle stings. Nettles are particularly fierce this time of year and I’m regularly stung through clothes, even jeans.

Steroid cream should do it for now I reckon.

HollowTalk · 28/08/2018 18:11

That brings back terrible memories of falling into nettle patches.

CherryChatsworth · 28/08/2018 19:18

It's just hives. I get it all the time. Take anti histamine and it'll be gone in 20 mins

MsHomeSlice · 28/08/2018 19:26

definitely Hives/urticaria

I get them for no reason whatsoever...I feel an itch and scratch it and BAM ...that rash starts and then the more I touch it the more it grows

I always try and look at where the itch is before I touch it, as once it starts it's a bugger to get rid of and will then flare up on and off for a week or more.

I take an antihistamine every day to keep it at bay. Mostly.

Bunnybigears · 28/08/2018 19:32

My son gets hives for the most random of reasons, often we cant pinpoint why at all. Give him some piriton.
