Or have I ? Is this a scam?
I filled in a flightright flight compensation claim a couple of months after a delayed flight nightmare.
Got the email to say KLM have settles it. But FLIGHTRIGHT want my account details to transfer the money.... €351.25
I'm a bit nervous. Seems too good to be true...

Don't want to get my bank account hacked....!!

Any experience or thoughts? Please!!
Thanks in advance..

Can you request a cheque?

Ginmakesitallok · 28/08/2018 08:08

What details are they asking for, if just sort code and account number then they sent do much apart from pay money in?? (who are flight right?)

sunnysunchild · 28/08/2018 08:48

They want an IBAN and BIC? Means nothing to me..

Apparently the compensation is €500 minus their fee.

Flightright are a flight delay compensation agent. I thought I'd just try it and see if anything came of it...

I'm just a bit scared if putting in my bank acc details....

IBAN and BIC are just the standard European formats for bank account details.
The IBAN is a 21 digit number that consists of your bank's ID, your sort code and your bank account number.
The BIC is your bank's unique ID. Neither of these would enable anyone to hack your account.
I see you are expecting a sum in € so that banking information would be needed to make the transfer.

If they are a legit company, all they will do is pay the money in. But if this happens to you again, there's no need to use a company that takes a big cut of your compensation for doing what you can do yourself for free, very easily:

They are a legit company but it's a shame you used them, next time fo it yourself it's really really easy, and you keep all the money.

TwitterQueen1 · 28/08/2018 09:31

This is fine, honestly. They cannot take money from your account from the details you provide (sort code, acc number and acc name). Iban is standard - can't remember the sequence but as ^ it's just the sequence of details. Ring your bank - they'll tell you what it is

I got over £250 compensation paid into my account from Flightright - they are legit. They make their money from the fees - I was happy to agree to this as they are the experts and they do all the work.

Sounds ok then? :)
I wasn't expecting anything so this is a bonus....!! But I will believe it when I see the cash lol
Thanks folks....
I'll update when I see the €€
:) I guess!

Yes, those details are pretty standard for the compensation payment.

If you are in a similar situation again, use Resolver. No fees and very easy to use. We just received 2400 euros from Air Canada for a delayed flight in July and 800ish (can’t remember exactly- whatever the legal amount was) euros from KLM for a cancelled St Petersburg flight 18 months ago. Had to give the same bank details to Resolver (or rather, to the airlines via Resolver)
