Tui Lapland Day Trip

Has anyone done the Tui Lapland day trip? Is it worth it?
I get that it is a lot of money for one day, but is it amazing? Or just rushed and too tiring?
Or does a day trip really not do it justice and we need a couple of days?
Anyone who has done a Lapland trip, advice greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We did Lapland but for 6 nights. We booked everything ourselves so flights for 3 to Ivalo through Finnair (£600), log cabin apartment in Saariselka for £400 over Christmas and then bought excursions on top (very easy to do). We stayed over Xmas and it was wonderful. DD was 6 at the time and I do not think younger is a good idea. It is hard work getting then in and out of all the layers and the dry air and twighlight is tiring. In resort there were a couple of supermarkets and we had a washing machine and sauna in the apartment as well as a full kitchen. Splashed out on a gala night on Xmas eve but it was affoardable compared to the package deals.

Did this through Santa’s Lapland two years ago with 9&6 year olds. Agree with above in that I wouldn’t do it any younger.
Personally wouldn’t do one day, to much to cram into the time, especially as relatively speaking it’s not much more for 2-3 days with far more time to enjoy it all at a sensible pace.
Amazing once in a lifetime trip though. We also didnit over Xmas, one word of caution, if you do this expect a very different Xmas and if you are big on the food element at home adjust your expectations as it’s very different, not bad just different

We did a 4 day trip with Santa's Lapland which was great. Flew to Ivalo, stayed in Saariselka as previous poster mentioned. Personally I wouldn't do one day, it's too rushed. I agree that children need to be at least 6, it's very cold. Well worth it in my opinion, we had a great time!

Just to add we took a box of wine and spirits in our luggage, late DH insisted on a frozen turkey roast thing (wrapped in tinfoil in luggage) so we managed xmas day fine! Gala meals are on Xmas eve and the one we went to let us drop off a present to be given out later by the real Santa. In Saariselka we hunted down the Ingham rep meeting and booked on their excursions which worked wonderfully as DD had lots of little friends and they were the perfect length.

Thanks for all replies. Seems the consensus is one day is just too rushed. I will look into self-booked, thanks!

We did the Tui one day trip. It was excellent and I'd really recommend it. It's plenty long enough to do everything (Santa bob-sleigh ride, reindeer, husky ride, ginger bread biscuits, lunch, dinner, and Finnish folk tales, plus sliding around on the ice slides). After 5 hours at minus 23 degrees, you're more than ready to go home!! A one day trip was perfect and magical!

Ah, Jane, that is good to hear. Thank you. The day trip is so tempting as my children finish school so close to Christmas this year, it would be great to do it just over one weekend. But I don’t want to regret rushing it once we are there.
It does sound as though they manage to fit the key activities into that one day...😀

We did the day trip (I was 21 but my siblings were 2-8) it was fantastic. i definitely don't think we needed longer.

We did:
fairy tale it a stick hut,
Reindeer ride
lunch
huskey ride
snow mobiles to santa
visit to santa
snow mobiles back
free time - sledging/ building snow men.

Then home.

Was brilliant. Would recommend it.

Though my over riding memory was the airport home. it was around 10pm and the shop was 'shut' but open and the till left open, with money in it. Everyone took what they needed and put the correct money in the till and took out the needed change. Was a fab site to see.

We’d love to do this. What prices roughly did people pay for their trips?

KatyN · 28/08/2018 07:41

We did the tui 4 day trip last year. We have me, dh, 6 year old, my sister and my parents. It cost about £6k.
It was amazing
I would defo do it again

Only caveat is we also took my just under 2 year old and she was too young and too cold. In a few years time when we win the lottery we’ll defo go back!
