We usually park the car on the drive but unfortuntley we need to get some work done so will be out of commission for a week, does anyone know if and how much it would roughly cost to change policy for a week. I know I can an just ring but would like a rough idea before I spend 30 minutes teying to get through. We pay £295 per year usually. If anyone can shed some info would be great.

What do you want to do? If the car is just temporarily moving somewhere else for a week you don't need to do anything.

Different insurers will have different rules on this, OP, so I'd be surprised if answers here will help you. Are you planning to park on-street for a week, rather than on your drive?

PattiStanger · 27/08/2018 18:02

No one can answer that, you need to speak to your insurer

Yeah we need to park on the road right next to the drive. I just wanted to know if anyone had any history with changing policy for a week. .

No, I've always had to park on-street anyway, and I haven't made any other changes for a week other than to add another driver which doesn't help you. FWIW, I'm very picky about making sure that insurance is completely fire-proof and I've told them everything, so I think you're doing the right thing, but I also think if your insurer says anything other than "that's absolutely fine, thanks for letting us know", you should come back and say which insurer it is, as I'd avoid them like the plague!

They’ll charge you an admin fee just for this, and will charge it your u again when you tell them it’s back on the drive. I wouldn’t bother.

Most policies will ask where the car is USUALLY kept. You don’t have to tell them for example if you go on holiday in the UK and take your car, so I wouldn’t worry about a week outside your house.
