Wedding gift amount

My DH is going to the evening reception of someone he is the boss of. Doesn't know the bride or any family. At quite a posh looking place. Invited on his own. No additional expenses like staying overnight. Never been to an English wedding before so no idea how much to give ( wants to give cash rather than gift). Doesn't want to appear like a tightwad or flush either! Won't be giving to the work collection in addition. Thoughts please 🤔 thanks in advance.

I don't usually give cash at wedding gifts. I prefer to buy a nice bottle of champagne. Always goes down well. My friend and her husband saved it for drinking when their wedding photos arrived

About £30-£50 I think.

He doesn't know him well enough to know if either drink

I would aim for £30 - £50 depending on what you can afford.

Evening reception I give £20, full day £30-£50 depending on how close we are and any extra expenses we’ve had to pay out for for example hotel overnight etc

Moody123 · 27/08/2018 16:49

Same as @Somewhereovertherainbow13 , £20 for an evening do and £50 for all day.

Maddy70 · 27/08/2018 17:25

As his boss I would give £50

MissCalamity · 27/08/2018 17:42

I would normally give £20 for just an evening reception, but as he's the groom's boss I would probably up it to about £30-£35.

Lindah1 · 28/08/2018 21:43

Thanks all, think we'll go with £40-£50
