If someone asks you to sign something but not date it the correct answer is 'no', right??

It's stuff for work.

Applications for training courses and similar.

Along with being badgered by these training companies for my private phone number, I've also been asked to sign things but not date them.

This feels dodgy AF. Am I right?

If it feels dodgy it usually is. Don't sign if you're not happy with it.

Yes.

Training providers who get government funding must provide evidence of learners' eligibility, that training took place, qualifications were achieved etc etc. So yes a learner will be required to sign AND date a few things. Best case scenario - it's something they forgot to ask you to sign at the time. Worst case scenario - it's fraud.

Yes, it's care work with government funded training.

It wasn't forgotten. There was a notice asking us to sign but not date the application form.

So, fraud. I'm not surprised. Something about it felt shifty.

If it's training you actually did, it's not fraud. Just read whatever it is, sign and date.

If it's simply an application to do something then I don't understand why they are asking you not to date it, as I can't think of any advantage. It's different if you are signing to confirm you are eligible as then it's important that you are eligible on your actual start date.

Just ask them why Smile
