What age do you think is ‘old’

I mean more in relation so certain activities, like clubbing, staying on the dance floor all night, wearing things like belly tops (I couldn’t lol) hot pants, play suits etc.
I only ask as my social life has really taken off again in the last 6 months but I constantly wonder whether I’m considered too old to be doing the things I’m doing!!

I think it comes down more to enjoying things and wanting to go them, than being a specific age.

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 26/08/2018 18:54

Any age is too old for clubbing and hot pants, they are ridiculous!

confusedandemployed · 26/08/2018 18:55

Or to put it another way, no age is too old for doing things you enjoy.

curlies · 26/08/2018 18:56

Who cares op go out and live your life!

Munchmallow · 26/08/2018 19:00

I used to wear hot pants when I went clubbing but that was in the 1970s so I'm a wee bit old for them now.

LongSummerDays · 26/08/2018 19:02

I don't know any old people. I live in a village where the average age is 80 and everyone seems full of beans and chirpy.

I wish I had some of their energy! Grin

My ma is well into her 70s and wears the same sort of clothes as me in my 40s, jeans, t shirts and jewelly sandals etc. She looks absolutely fine. I think we've both sported shorts/playsuit type short/top combos in recent memory (in the garden not in a club though)

Wear whatever you want. As Bad Luhrman said "Enjoy your body, use it every way you can, don't be afraid of it..." :)

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 26/08/2018 19:09

At least 10 years older than my current age!

Cherrygardenst · 26/08/2018 19:11

Well. When I was a teen I was very embarrassed when my mid-40s mum 'reclaimed her youth'. She asked me what I thought of her ultra-short clearly-a-size-too-small dress before she went clubbing. Photos of her on Facebook dancing away drunk, sometimes with men. Starting online dating etc. For me, at the time, that was too old. But maybe it was just cos it's my fucking mum.

Anyway. I guess... When you can't physically go clubbing anymore.

Singlenotsingle · 26/08/2018 19:12

It's always ten years older than you.

It always depends on the figure. As long as the skin is firm then skimpy clothing is fine.

feekerry · 26/08/2018 19:20

I don’t actually wear hot pants out clubbing, I was just using that as an example.
When I went out a few weeks ago later on in the evening I don’t think I saw anyone at in the club over 28

I’m 28 and listening to my 20 year old colleague talk about partying and clubs makes me feel ancient. God help me when I’m actually old Grin

countingelephants · 26/08/2018 19:30

Similar to amused, I’m 32 and had a colleague who was 22. Lots of people thought we were a similar age, after me the next person in the office was in their late 40s. I felt ancient compared to the 22yo as our lives are very different - I’ve been married 5 years and have DC but I loved hearing about her Tinder dates and seeing where she got her trendy clothes from! Grin

amusedbush · 26/08/2018 19:50

countingelephants

Not just me then! Grin I got married at 25 and DH are both antisocial happiest at home, on the sofa with a blanket and a cuppa. Listening to my colleague talk about his trendy new clothes, bands I’ve never heard of and going to a job interview straight off the back of a five day booze-fest music festival makes me feel about 100 Blush he bounces into work after a night out ‘feeling rough’ and is cured by a bacon roll. I can’t drink any more than two G&Ts on any given night because my hangovers now have me bedridden for two days Grin

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 26/08/2018 19:52

Amused

I’m 24 and can’t think of anything worse than boozy nights out, all day benders and ridiculous expensive girls nights out!

I like national trusts, documentaries on the sofa and spending time with my kids. I feel really old compared to others in their twenties lol.

No, this statement is ridiculous. I have a friend in her 40's who rocks gold hotpants. Most of my friends are in their 40's and 50's and love nothing better than getting dressed up in ridiculous outfits and partying all night. Those sort of nights are rarer these days and mostly private parties but there's no age limit on having fun!
