Nice things that complete strangers do

I think it's nice when another driver gives you that little 'thank you wave' when they pass, even though they had right of way anyway (say if the parked cars are on your side so you're waiting behind them)
Or when another mother pushing a pram will give you a little smile when you're walking along pushing your pram.
Or when someone gives you their parking ticket because they're leaving and there's still some time left on it.
Or when the delivery man sees your cat and says he's lovely.
What other nice things do you like that strangers do?

I recently took my DD (3) to our local National Trust shop to buy her a much wanted stuffed toy, she had spotted it months before and had been saving up for it. When we arrived all the stock had gone and DD was in floods. The lady working at the shop took pity on her and gave her a free (huge!) chocolate lollipop which took her mind off the toy. She also gave one to my older DD for fairness. I was so touched by the kindness of a stranger I had to hide the fact it made me cry!

We were recently at a wedding abroad, I had to rush out of the reception with a screaming 1yo ds. As I was pushing his buggy down the hill to our hotel (still screaming!) a cyclist stopped and threw her keys in his lap. Diffused the situation instantly, told me it gets better and then gave him her key holder to keep before cycling off again. Nearly had me in tears!

I always try to tell parents if their children have been particularly kind - e.g. at a soft play last week my 15 month old DGS was blocking one of the tunnels and didn't want to move. A little girl who was three or four waited very patiently for him before she could get past. I made sure I found her Dad and told him how lovely she'd been.

I took the wrong purse to Asda last week and so had no way of paying when I got to the till.
The man behind me in the queue paid for my shopping and gave me his bank details so I could transfer the amount when I got home.
