I do. When i was 1 my dad went to Canada and spent a month there studying. He got me a teddy bear that's been my favorite toy throughout my childhood and i still have it on my bed. I'm 34 years old.

Do you still have a special toy? Please share a picture if you can!

I have two teddy's from my childhood. One i was given from a vistor when i was born, it's in fairly good condition as i wasn't very attached to it as a child. Another that i was very attatched to, you can tell because it looks like it's been tortured

I have to admit that I’ve got a few; a couple of very ragged dolls, a dog shaped pjs case, and a couple of teddies.

GoneWishing · 26/08/2018 21:18

PS Left bear wears a Venetian hand-embroidered top and DGM's pearls (and my childhood red plastic necklace). I hope Right bear doesnt' feel left out..

My teddy and Dh's teddy sit on a chair in our bedroom. Wouldn't be without them at all. Dh's is a Steiff and would probably be valuable if he wasn't so battered loved.

identifyingmusic1 · 26/08/2018 21:21

inthetropics I have the exact same bear Shock, or certainly looks the same! Got mine in 1991 from my godmother, he's slept on my bed every night since.

Underhisi · 26/08/2018 21:35

Dh and I both have teddies that sit on a shelf in our bedroom. They are 49 and 53. Mine wears a silver jubilee t shirt.

ilovepixie · 26/08/2018 21:37

Not toys but all my collection of chalet school books.

Inthetropics · 26/08/2018 21:43

@identifyingmusic1 OMG! Please take a picture so i can show it to my dad! Where did your godmother buy it? I got mine in 1985.

I have my favourite dog teddy..Susie. My nan and granddad gave me her for Christmas when I was about 7. I also have my battered tiny toy cooker, with matching stackable pan set...and a toy iron!

Flobalob · 26/08/2018 21:57

I have my favourite doll (Tiny Tears)who is 41. Plus a few other dolls and clothes that my kids play with. A doll's buggy some pink cases that I've handed down to my DD plus some games like Downfall that my kids love. Plus a whole collection of Enid Blyton books and other books from my childhood (joke books etc).

My mum bought me a bear when I was born. I am 45 now and still sleep with Ted every night Blush. He has been on many adventures in many countries. I don't take him abroad any more in case he gets lost, or worse they don't believe a 45 yo woman has a bear at airport security and they rip him apart!! I would have a full on meltdown!

Tink1990 · 26/08/2018 22:08

I do too, his name is sweep and i luffs him Grin he sits on top of my bed and when i feel sad he is always happy to come into bed with me and give cuddles.

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 26/08/2018 22:19

Oh yes! I have a cuddly elephant, we’ve been together now for 40 years. Great for cuddles. Love him lots Smile

Septima · 26/08/2018 22:20

I had a small knitted rabbit with a blue dress on. It’s name was Penny. Unfortunately, we became separated when I was taken into care. That’s the only toy I wish I had.

badgeronabicycle · 26/08/2018 22:21

I do. A battered, one eyed, balding yellow bear my granny made for me before I was born. I took him backpacking all round Australia/SE Asia with me after I finished university. DH thinks he's creepy and objects to his presence.

FinallyHere · 27/08/2018 13:48

@badgeronabicycle

DH's jealousy, such an ugly emotion. 😁

badgeronabicycle · 27/08/2018 19:08

@FinallyHere 😂. You are so right!

Pinkkahori · 27/08/2018 19:14

I don't have the originals. My parents moved house when I was a teenager and again when I was in my early 20's and they kept nothing sentimental at all which I find quite upsetting now that I have my own kids.
I did find 2 toys I loved in the 80's on Ebay so I bought those so I have something to share with my children.

SweatyFretty · 27/08/2018 19:15

Yes. I have a stuffed animal that Dad won at a fun fair when I was three.

It is easily my most prized possession.

Elflocks · 29/08/2018 17:16

What a lovely thread! Smile

I have six assorted teddies from my childhood. I cried when I saw them for the first time in about 5 years, because I genuinely feared I had lost them in a house move 5 years ago, and I was so overjoyed to be wrong. Smile
