WWYD!? Mortgage/Maternity leave.

Hi,

So we have been accepted for a mortgage through nationwide, I'm currently on maternity leave, when we did the application I provided a letter from my work stating my agreed return to work date and salary I will be on when I return..
All went through fine and we got a mortgage offer which we have accepted,

Here is my issue, I've now decided to extend my maternity leave taking 2 months unpaid and 1 month paid holidays so my date has changed from 22/09/18 to 02/12/18 we have got extra savings so can fully afford for me to take this extra time off, completion is due 26/09/18

My question is do I tell our lender I have extended my mat leave, I am fully initialed to take this extra time and I'm sure nationwide is fully aware I can extend my mat leave at any time, would you tell them risking them potentially retracting our offer or would you not bother? I'm just scared it will come to completion and they are going to ask if I'm still going back to work that week/week later as I'm not! Or am I overthinking and being silly an this is not something they will ask right at the end after already accepting us.

Thanks!

Don't tell them. You'll have to go through the whole application thing again and likely get the same answer anyway.

I was in the same position last pregnancy, as I was certain we could pay the mortgage anyway, I didn't tell them. I don't think there's need for such a short period.

Are the chances slim they would ask me to confirm I'm back/still due back to work on completion, I think I'm just over worrying as we're about to exchange...

It will be fine. Once you have the mortgage there's no way of them knowing if you went back at all. They won't check, it's not a condition of the mortgage that you must go back on a particular date.

@brokenharbour when you put it like that your absolutely right! No we're does it state I NEED to go back on that date, nothing has changed in the sense of the salary I will be returning to so it shouldn't be a issue.
