Greatest Showman suitable for a 5yo?

Is Greatest Showman suitable for a 5yo? I really want to see it and it's on at our local cinema "movies for juniors" so I can take 5yo DD, but is it suitable?

My son is 4, 5 next month and he adores it. There's no real scary parts except a fire near the end but it ends well and a bit of a romantic tiff that goes over his head. Beware, all we listen to in the car is the songs from it now which I like, but ALL the time.

Yes. Absolutely!

Oh yes, and a boy gets a slapped face early on in the film so I warned my DD about that before she watched it and assured her it was just pretend. Don't let that put you off. She'll be singing the songs from it forever more (as will you)!

My 2.5tr old loves it and sings along. Have fun!

Ds is 6 and loves it - he asks me to fast forward the face slapping part though so def warn your dc about that.

Thanks for all your replies. She absolutely loves the Sound of Music and Mary Poppins so I'm looking forward to learning all the songs with her and stop having to sing bloody Moana all the time

Yes. It is brilliant

DartmoorDoughnut · 26/08/2018 09:40

My two absolutely adore it (almost 4 and 18 months)

My 5 year old moved from moana to this - one set of songs replaced by another! We’re all word perfect on GS now.

The best thing about it is the underlying messages of what’s important in life I.e don’t look down on those from humble backgrounds, don’t exclude those with disabilities or imperfections, embrace differences and celebrate uniqueness etc. It’s very nicely done and the songs are belters, make sure you listen to the words to get the full impact. Enjoy!

Just wanted to come back to say how much we both enjoyed the film. DD recognised some of the songs from her school assemblies and it was wonderful seeing her little face light up when she could sing along. I may have shed a small tear Grin
