If peacock feathers are supposed to be bad luck in the home, does anyone know why?

Is it an evil eye thing?

That, and they're teeming with lice.

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2018 23:40

It's because of the "eyes" It's about the devil being able to see you, I think.

UnaCountable · 24/08/2018 23:55

Oh, so it's the 'eye's then. They're ancient, so no
lice possible.

No idea but my cats LOVE mangling them so we buy them off ebay!
More bad luck for the feathers in this house Grin

UnaCountable · 25/08/2018 00:30

Ha! So whatever I decide, I'll be sure to keep them out of reach of the Mog (if that's even possible!!)

Peacocks are mean and evil, so that's probably why their feathers are bad luck.

Or it's just made up so people stop trying to steal their feathers.

Along with other old wives tales like "It's good luck if it rains on your wedding day." obvs made up to make the bride feel better.

"It's bad luck to let other people wear your engagement ring." Clearly made up because no one wants someone else to try on their ring.
