We buy any car?

I'm considering buying a new car and wondering the easiest and most cost efficient way to sell my old one. It's not worth a lot and I don't think I can be bothered selling privately. Has anyone used We Buy Any Car? I'm aware they will drop the online quote but just wondered from people's experiences by how much?

We used them on Jam and they were brilliant. Sold our 8 month old car to them as DH changed job and now catches the train. They offered us the true value and we would only have got an extra couple of hundred if we had sold it privately, but obviously that would have been a tight hassle (DH has ASC and can't cope with people).
Would definitely use them again if we needed too

I've used them. I was honest about the condition of my car and they gave me the full amount quoted online. It was a decent price too - more than I'd be offered for part-ex. I think the key is to be upfront about the condition in the first place. I had a positive experience with them and would recommend.

My car was valued at around £3k by WBAC and I got £6K for it as part exchange for my new car, so quite a lot in my experience!

It really depends on the car I think, and how easily they think they can make money from it.

ChipmunksAreMissing · 24/08/2018 11:25

OMG, just ignore my post! Stupid auto correct!!!

StayAChild · 24/08/2018 11:27

The online WBAC quote was nowhere near what they actually offered us, which was laughable. On inspection of my car they noted every single blemish. Evans Halshaw offered much more and took the car on the spot.

Viebienremplie · 24/08/2018 11:35

We used them, it was fine. Actually we wanted to part ex with the garage that sold us new car, instead of part ex, the garage arranged sale through this site. It was all the same to us!

lovemyboys25 · 24/08/2018 11:37

We have used them twice to sell.
I think the online price can be varied depending if you put everything correctly.
One car we got market value for and were happy
Our van they haggled alot and we didn't get much but then its gone in a day and is easy so can't complain.

Depends if you want a quick sale or not and you can always get other valuations before.

Check reviews on your local ones some might be better than others. We went to two different ones and the 2nd was much better nice staff member etc

You said your car is not worth a lot. What makes you say that? Age of the car? Condition? They will only buy what they can sell and make a profit on. DC looked at selling to them when they bought a new car. The amount they offered was laughable for a car in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. In the end, the dealership where DC was buying new car offered twice the amount.
I guess ultimately it depends how much you can afford to lose compared to the convenience.
And no, they don't buy any car. My dm tried to sell my dad's car to them when he died. A five year old excellent condition car, full service history (had been a motorbility vehicle) with extremely low mileage. WBAC refused to buy it.

Miggymoggymugwumps · 24/08/2018 11:52

They wouldn't buy ours as they said the mileage was too high - so their company name needs revising!!

meadowmeow · 24/08/2018 11:52

I get a quote from them every time I change a car and it has never been more than the trade in price offered by the dealer.

lastqueenofscotland · 24/08/2018 12:15

They bought my mums car which was low mileage but otherwise a shitheap with no hassle. She didn’t need the money just wanted rid

PJBanana · 24/08/2018 12:53

DP used them earlier this year. They offered him what they quoted originally (he was expecting them to offer around £1k less) and the whole process took about half an hour.

Yes, you’ll probably get more selling privately, but if the convenience is more important to you then it’s worth seeing what they’ll offer.

fromdespairto · 24/08/2018 15:30

Thanks all. They've quoted me 3k on WBAC but would expect this to drop but don't want to waste hours there and end up not selling it due to price drop. I could get more with a private sale but there are a few minor dings and scratches I'd need to fix first. I just can't be bothered with the stress of a private sale (have enough issues getting people to come for Freecycle things!). It's a relatively old car but mechanically sound, always well maintained. I might trade it in, will see what the garage is offering.
