Teaching the alphabets to toddlers/preschoolers

DC1 is just getting the hang of the alphabet verbally but how is it best to consolidate this in written or ‘hard’ form? For example, I’m looking at various alphabet puzzles but not sure if we should start with upper or lower case letters. A friend has also run me through the basics of phonics, which has been useful in helping speech and pronunciation but I’m still a little in the dark with where it fits right now. Any pointers v welcome!

*Alphabet. We’re only starting with English; my phone appears to have other ideas Blush

Alphablocks has really helped my little boy. You can watch them on TV, buy apps and magazines. I really recommend them! (I'm a teacher!)

Thanks! We’ll take a look. Got to grips with numbers well so hopefully won’t be much different. Just seems to be more to it than at first glance!

I second alphablocks, success with my 1st child and watch it now with my second child. When l taught my little boy the alphabet l taught him ABC school had to teach him abc ( lower case and sounds, phonics) so l am started there this time.

We used foam letters onto a chart that we got from the library to play matching games.

I think l loved doing all this more than my ds, l hope my dd enjoys it.

I've been teaching lowercase (because words are generally written in lower case) and the phonics sounds rather than the letter names. But DS is 2 1/2 so it's just a bit of fun for him (he likes his ABC book as a bedtime story and always wants 'teach me mummy)
