Time off for kids hospital appts

I work full time. Colleagues that work in the same role as me all seem to come and go without bother for their hospital appts dentist appts ect without ever having to make up time or provide documentation.
My daughter this year has had quite serious diagnosis's that will affect her severely for the rest of her life.
I have arranged all but two of her appts outside of my working hours but this is hard as she has appts every 4 weeks with one of her consultants.
The two that weren't outside of working hours my boss was particularly rude with me when I asked if I could go and make up the hour or two another day. She told me I had to take the day unpaid and was very huffy and puffy about the whole thing as if it was the biggest inconvenience ever.

Dd has an appointment next week with consultant which is scheduled for 2.5 hours before I'm due to finish, it's about a 30 minute drive away so 3 hours. I'm dreading telling her but dd cannot miss this appt. her dad isn't in the picture at all there is a no contact order and restraining order. She has an amazing stepdad but he can't drive and has no parental responsibility.
Does anybody else struggle with this stuff

The difference is your colleagues are going for appointments for themselves whereas you need time off for your daughters appointments. I would have thought you would have to make the time up. It's been like that every where I have worked.

Cluedo I fully expect to make the time up I don't feel it is unfair, but I wasn't allowed to just leave early and make the time up the next day even though there were more than enough team members in, I had to take the full day as unpaid and I can't afford to do this regularly
