Shingles maybe

EnoughisEnough1204 · 22/08/2018 20:36

Looks like shingles. I’ve had it and it looked exactly like that. He might want to get a GP to look at it.

Pretty sure it looks like shingles

Does it hurt?

hugoagogo · 22/08/2018 20:38

Does it hurt like hell?

dun1urkin · 22/08/2018 20:39

I say shingles, too. He should see his GP.

dun1urkin · 22/08/2018 20:40

(My shingles didn’t hurt like hell apart from when my poor husband was dabbing chamomile on, so if it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t mean it’s not shingles)

Twistella · 22/08/2018 20:40

Yes shingles or impetigo

StillMedusa · 22/08/2018 20:41

Looks like shingles to me too. One of my (adult) kids had them a few months ago and the rash looked just like that.

saffyBoo · 22/08/2018 20:48

Thanks. No idea how he got that

Shingles!!!

3girlmama · 22/08/2018 20:50

Shingles x

dun1urkin · 22/08/2018 20:51

If it’s shingles he got it when he had chicken pox, and the virus has been dormant until now.
Have a look at this
www.nhs.uk/conditions/shingles/

3girlmama · 22/08/2018 20:52

If it is only on one side of the badly, it's likely to be shingles. Doesn't always hurt or itch.
However, best see gp tomorrow to start antiviral meds (acyclovir) as they start them within 72hr (I think) of it first appearing x

dun1urkin · 22/08/2018 20:53

PS just because the rash is much smaller than the pictures on that page it doesn’t mean it’s not shingles. When I had it the rash was half the size of what your DH has got

numptynuts · 22/08/2018 21:09

I had shingles in my mouth. He needs to see a GP because I agree with the others.

Bunnybigears · 22/08/2018 21:12

Looks like shingles, I had shingles and it didn't hurt I just felt a bit tired. No real need for the Dr's unless he has any underlying health conditions or he needs strong painkillers.

dun1urkin · 22/08/2018 21:20

Bunnybigears the NHS advice is to see a Dr if you think you have shingles. It’s not helpful to suggest otherwise to the OP

Bunnybigears · 22/08/2018 21:33

I apologise but when i had shingles my GP said there was no point coming in as i was generally fit and well amd didnt need painkillers. Obviously OP or more her DH needs to make their own decisions about their own health.

CakeNinja · 22/08/2018 21:37

Bunny, same with me.
I only went because I was due to fly in a couple of weeks and I also work with children.
She packed me off with nothing, was too late for the antivirals and said if I felt okay I was fine to work and due to the nature of where my rash was (under my bra strap which was quite sore!) that it wasn’t contagious.
